I was wondering if the Shure PA235 Level Attenuator is neccessary for both the Shure E3 as well as the E3c or does it only apply to the E3 model? I have the white E3c which has no volume control on it and I don't want to be on a flight and find out then that I need the PA235 if the lowest level of the seat headphone output is still too loud. Can anyone advise further please?

Thanks for a great forum!!

The Shure E3 is, AFAIK, exactly the same as the E3c with the exception that the E3c has the more iPod friendly white color. Here is a review of the E3 where the reviewer states that the E3 and E3c are the same. So, the level attenuator applies to both models. Having used the E3 on a plane before, it is almost a necessity to have the attenuator if you want to use them to listen to the inflight music/movie. The output is already increased to account for the ambient noise, and can be damaging (and painful) without the attenuation.
