Don't get me wrong, I think the Portapro2's are much better then the typical Radio Shack type headphones I've been accustomed to listening to on portable devices. However it's definitely slung towards the bass end and midtones and highs are lacking in my opinion. I've come across an extra hundred bucks that I'm willing to sink into portable headphones for my Rio Nitrus and the E2Cs sound intriguing. I was wondering if you thought the Shure's would be an improvement or do you have other headphone suggestions? It has to be low impendence as the Nitrus is really wimpy on sound output. I've listened to a pair of Senn PX200 and am not sure if they are any better then the portapro2's or not. Wish I could have heard them side by side rather then on two separate occasions.

Some people like the Shures, some don't. I don't, but that doesn't mean they're bad. To my ears they lack detail, because of their rolled off highs.

If money's an issue, consider Sony EX51s or 71s (same thing really, just a different cord, find them on froogle.com), or Sharp MD33s (audiocubes.com). The other option is Ety 6i's - etymotic.com - bit more expensive but quite good.

There's been lots of debate recently on these, if you do a search you'll be able to read them and learn a lot. Threads like this usually turn into arguments around here... there's a very passionate lot here!
