hi all this is my first post...........based on a number of reccomendations that i have read on this board(which is awesome BTW) i decided to buy the shure e2's. I got them at guitar city for 79.99 tonight.

However, looking around the board, I seem to notice quite a number of negative reviews also. My question is this: Will i be happy with these earbuds? I have an Ipod 3rd gen, 15 gb and listen to mostly rock and pop. If i open the package, I cannot return them to guitar city, but if I were to get them for shure's website, I have the 30 day trial............

Suggestions, opinions are very much appreciated, some of the negative comments i read kind of made me a bit leary of these phones.......

thanks, AL

You know, my buyer's remorse doesn't usually kick in until after I start listening to the phones

I have a pair of E2s I use with my 30 gig iPod, and I'm very happy with them. They have a warm sound that matches well with the trebly tendencies of the iPod. These have supplanted my eggos as my portable phone of choice.

And if you get an amp to go with them (and if you stick around here, you will), they only get better...

So go ahead and open them, find out which tips give you a good fit and seal, burn them in every night for a week, and then if you don't like them, you can always sell them here. Even if you end up getting rid of them, the process is fun

It really depends on your taste. I got some from Guitar Center and hated them. Highs were too strong and the bass was too weak for my taste. However many would say the opposite. Unfortunatly the only way to know for sure is to listen to them for yourself and see what you think. There are enough positive reviews out on these headphones that there is a very good chance you'll like them, or you could be one of the few like me who didn't. I couldn't return mine but was able to sell them without losing much so it wasn't a big deal.

You weren't allowed to return them?
I acutally just got a pair today and agree that the highs are a bit high and the bass is a bit low. I'll give them a week or so to burn them in and to get a new amp.
