Hi all,

I live in Central London (England) and went searching for decent headphones over the weekend.

I could find Sennheisers everywhere but when I asked about Shure headphones I was met with blank expressions and was even told "Shure doesn't make headphones"...

This was not in your standard Midi Hi Fi system places, but the guys on Tottenham Court Road.

Searching through the web, I notice that I cannot find ANY suppliers in London!

What's the deal? Sugarfried, do Shure not sell their headphones in the UK?

Entropic..

Apart from Hi-Fi Excellence I personally find TCR very mid-fi, and the pile it high sell it cheap tactics are a distraction too...

...I'm not surprised that no-one knew about Shure 'phones, seeing that the highest model of Beyer 'phones I could find (in the home use category) was DT231 Gallactic... not exactly high end

Good luck with Plainsongs link, if you buy them through there can you tell us how much you get hit by customs for?

Thanks

I don't live in the UK, but since it's in the EU, and Thomann is in the EU, shouldn't there not be any customs or duty fees? That's how it works in Finland at any rate...

...I'm so used to dealing with people west of here that I forgot that the rules are different for people to the immediate east of here...

Thanks...

The Shure headphones (and the etymotics for that matter) are PA phones. So, you don't go to a consumer dealer... you go down to a pro music dealer. Just down the road from TCR in fact to opposite Foyles, to Turnkey. They sell the Shure range, the whole AKG range, the whole Beyer range although apparently not the DT880 yet, and the professional Sennheisers (including the HD25-SP at £60, BTW), all at reasonable cost. They even have the Sony MDR-7506 and they can even get Ultrasones.

If they don't have the Shures in stock, they can always get them. Be prepared to spend lots of time queuing. Alternatively you can go along to their website (www.turnkey.co.uk) but they are more helpful (if incredibly busy) in the shop.
