Haha nice. I can say HBB got the 09s.. he tends to only want to give reviews to stand-out and excellent sets now and the 09 got no review.
Judging just by the FR, I can tell won’t match to HBB’s taste! The bass is just too hard and sub bass bleed into mid bass... and he preferred the treble early roll off which 09 is trying not to... :D

One thing he mentioned to me over email was that he wasn't sure if his 09 was a production or a pre-release version. He won't be reviewing until he has confirmation and clarification from the Shuoer guys.

I took my Silver Tape Pros on a walk to local supermarket today and all the bits that bothered me are gone. The bass is smooth and goes deep and the higher registers are alot more detailed and fuller than previously. The low end at first was dominant but not anymore. I’m a firm believer in burn in, playing them in or whatever you choose to call it and mine got much better over time. I’m using stock cable, default filter setup and SednaEarfitLight tips, its also Silver color like I mentioned above. Mine changed a lot over a very short amount of time, maybe 15-20 hrs total so I’m hoping that folks don’t give up to quick on these but I know some folks have already its ashame. I wonder if Shuoer has mentioned anywhere about burn in, has anyone seen or heard from them directly regarding that. If someone indeed. has an ongoing dialogue with them it might be a question to ask the engineers behind the build.
Absolutely agree. Big change after 24 hours burn in and more improvements since. Couldn't use the bass setting to start with, too dominant, but now after over 100 hours I prefer it to the stock setting. These are very good indeed. They sound similar to the MT300 and the Believe.

Lol if come true will be Xmas come early!

On the same subject - just noticed Shuoer Ali store is doing a 5% off, not significantly but good $50ish off for EJ07 (with DHL delivery) that would be about the cheapest all-in price incl delivery. I got mine thru contact in China then shipped over costed about the same

Freshly from China - screenshot (in Chinese but been told it’s saying Shuoer will show case the EJ07 Pro + Conductor Pro) from WeChat that EJ07 Pro and Conductor Pro will be there in one Guangzhou audio show on the 28th! Anyone who’s in Guangzhou can attend?!!!

I would love to hear anyone’s feedback on 07 Pro! My contact will try to go so I’ll share any feedback from him & @redrol might be the one you have been waiting for :D

FWIW BTW, the “EJ07 Pro” is just the old name for the EJ09. There is no updated EJ07 from last I heard.

That’s what I was told too! And by the Shuoer rep! But above brochure cleared has EJ09 as selling point but a line reference at the end EJ07 Pro which my local guy told me read as: new product to trial EJ07 Pro and Conductor Pro! I’m waiting for my Shuoer rep confirmation too

a while ago i have bought myself a pair of shuoer tapes (first model), i happily listened to them until of course one of the sides started sounding about 10db quieter.
Today i decided to dust them off and try to listen to them without the sound channel (that screw out) and strangely volume felt the same. I have ripped off mesh grills, removed the cloth underneath and put the grills back, and voila, volume on both is back to normal. On closer inspection, cloth from underneath the grills looks like a mess of glue and earwax. Without it 3.5 khz peak skyrocketed 10db higher, which i have eq-ed

So yeah, i was wondering, why Tape pro treble sound so weak compared to regular tape? I have listened to pro's for about an hour a while back. Pretty sure that the drivers are exactly the same including crossover, i mean shuoer tried to dim 3.5 khz with a piece of cloth that cost them thousands upon thousands in returns. What are they using in pro's to fight the peak? It obviously is what causes weaker treble than the older model

Have you tried the pro's without the filters on?
Might be difficult to get the tips to stay on without them, and it'd presumably be 'less good' (possibly unlistenable even?) but it'd be interesting to know how the naked drivers compare.

I don't really have a problem with the spike on my OG Tapes, even without the mod I carried out on the nozzles ( mine are removable, so I experimented with adding damping, gradually reducing the amount from unlistenably muddy, down to barely there at all, and stuck with an almost imperceptible change, I briefly tried removing the screen and factory filter but didn't like that).
I'm very tempted to try the pro's too, but I like the OG's so much I worry I might like the Pro's less (I also perversely quite like the mmcx since I found a Fiio cable which fits much better than the factory cable and also improves the fit).
The Pro's seem like they might lend themselves to a good mod by removing the stock cloth, and adding some DIY damping behind the screen, allowing more treble energy?

Edit: sorry, I misread your post and thought you had both models, my bad.

no, my hands-on experience was limited to about a half an hour, i could compare. Pro's sounded worse in treble and quieter, pretty sure now that's because more cloth is used.

but I like the OG's so much I worry I might like the Pro's less
OG tape with naked driver pretty much requires the reduction of the peak for about 10db. How about the rest of it? Well it is obviously a lot louder and tiny details in anything above 6khz feels a lot sharper and precise. So yeah, cloth filter is crap, they should have put it on the output of the driver, not directly in contact with earwax. I won't be surprised if someone threw a pair away after the right earbud lost 10 db of volume

Right folks, hope everyone’s doing well and being safe. It’s been a while so sharing some updates: since I listen mostly pop, female vocals and prefer treble than bass, reading over and over again @fjlabs’ great EJ09 review with comparison to the EJ07 - I’ve finally pulled the trigger on 09 (after all, this rabbit hole just never ends & I do need my ‘backup’ set)!

It took me a while also because strangely enough I actually quite enjoy the darker (‘wrong’) tuning of the TP which some folks absolutely hated so I was wondering if I should wait for the Conductor Pro or something else. Fingers crossed will arrive all okay later this week & can’t wait to try it out and hope will love it.

Apart from above obvious factors for going with the 09 (as oppose to MEST /others), I have the benefit of having a local Chinese contact who can get good price from Shuoer, plus he owns (loves too) the EJ07s and ordered 09 with the 7-day full refund return policy so he can test it out for me. Clearly this is not available to everyone so I appreciate my situation is different and making the purchase easy for me (also it’s about the 1-month saving with WFH and recovering ££)

And the verdict? My contact told me the 09s are blowing 07 away in details, treble and are great for female vocals & pops which affirmed my purchase (rather than return for full refund). Yes the low-mid seemed somewhat lacking a bit compared to the high-mids but should not be an issue for my library, he believes the 09s are definitely better than the 07s in all areas (also a treble head). Since he too loves the 09, I got the added benefit to be receiving a brand new set as he’s keeping the one he auditioned.

Finally, another recent discovery is that I finally realise that I have got very small ear canals that CIEM might be out of windows and even MS Xelastec still big for me, also explains why form-tips give me best bass experience but was actually hurting my ears as have been using M which is too big. Together with my 09 also will have SS sized Xelastec hopefully will provide the best fit/seal & the best sound experience to date!
