You probably heard about Ultimate but this is Universe. A step up for sure. Now I need your unbiased opinion. Is this black version good?

That's a tough one!

I really like those silver knobs, but otherwise the black plate gives this a bit more distinguished and higher-endish look, where the silver reminds me a bit of the Glenn builds; high quality but with a hint of DIY feel.

Now, how about the black plate, and only silver knobs? this can work very well (e.g. my AIC face plate has that kind of thing, I think it may work here as well!):

It's based on Ultimate's circuit. Nothing to do with pEar. Those are custom Silks according to Eric's specifications. Not available from SAC's off the shelf.

Just slide the monitor and speaker stands to the right just a smidge. Much easier!
