House of the Rising Sun was very close on my list. I *think* Muse covered that on some NME compilation, albeit shorter and more, heh, apocalyptic.

I'm a whore for the artwork, so I fumble around various singles. Sci-Fi leaves off some stuff that's well worth tracking down, IMO.



I wanted to add that in no way are those ten my favorite songs, just some that have had emotional meaning at some point in my life. I remember this issue of [COMIC GEEK]Animal Man where the villain was going to set off a bomb that would flash his life backwards to the world's thoughts and then detonate at birth[/COMIC GEEK]. Kinda like that.

It’s funny, when I opened this thread I had Hallelujah from Buckley just starting. What a song to go out on! My list would be,

King Crimson- Starless (That ending is just like the Apocalypse)

Genesis-Supper's Ready (Anything that is called Apocalypse 9/8 must be played when the time has come)

Kevin Gilbert- All Fall Down (A song that just seems fitting if you have ever heard it)

Peter Gabriel- Here Comes the Flood (I think the Robert Fripp version from Exposure would fit the bill)

The Beatles- The whole ending suite to Abbey Road (If it was good enough for the Beatles to end on then it should be good enough for me)

And finally

Frank Zappa- Muffin Man (If the world comes to an end I want to go out with a song that has absolutely nothing to do with nothing yet contains the most badass ending solo)
