I'm in a bit of a dilemma. A couple months ago on a plane to HK, my left channel suddenly stopped working on the plane. I thought it was just the plane having no left channel, but when I got home, my left driver was completely gone. The E4's are out of warranty and will cost $70 to fix from Shure.

I haven't visited this forum in a while and am completely behind on headphones and IEMs. So, should I just get the Shures repaired or can I get something better for near the price range?

Yes, get the e4's repaired. Why not? There is nothing better near the prince range of the repair. You could get some of the new black foam "olive" tips. They are great with the e4's
