Would I benefit a lot from this amp? I use these headphones on my laptop (Sony Vaio) and iPhone 4. I do find the output on my laptop a bit low, but they still sound great. I keep hearing an amp makes headphones sound a lot better...

SPECS :

Transducer type
Dynamic neodymium magnet
Driver size
40 mm
Sensitivity (1kHz)
102 dB/mW
Impedance (1kHz)
44 Ω
Max. input power (1kHz)
1000 mW
Frequency range
5 Hz - 25 kHz

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Is it because I don't need an amp for these or the E6 is just not good enough?

- Your expectations to having an amplifier is that it would improve the sound quality by a lot. This is false, any possible changes to sound will be really subtle, in some cases not even audible.
- Your Shure SRH840 headphones are easy to drive, they don't need amplifier.
- Biggest changes to sound comes from headphones. It's better to save the money and upgrade to better headphones than spending hundreds of dollars on amps. For example buying 150$ headphones and then spending another 150$ on amp, when you could have had 300$ headphones instead.

My opinion is that it would be waste of money to buy amp for those headhpones. But if you are that curious about it, you could always buy the amp and then return/sell it if you didn't like it.
