Got it after getting advice at this forum so here i am again..

This time im looking for some good portable phones or in ears..

At first i wanted to get the sennheiser cx300 but i dislike the cords on it, afraid ill break them in no-time...so i whas looking @ some headphones..

I spotted some hd205 in stores here in the Netherlands for 50euros..and im able to get the portapro for the same price..?
Wich one should i pick? Im going to use them with a ipod nano.

What kind of music do you listen too? You can get some great deals here in the For Sale forum.

I really listen to all sorts of music, from rap to dance, goa, film sets, jazz... really random..

I live in the Netherlands, Europe..dont think the forum would do me much good since shipment costs wont be low..
Also i dont want to look weird in public, i love good sound but dont want something big like my hd595 for public use..

PortaPros have 0 isolation. If you want to use it on public transport or anywhere with a lot of people, forget about the PP

portapro's all the way. Some ppl think they have to much bass but atleast they'll never bore you

Those are highly moddable to.
I don't think the hd205 can beat them for rock, trance or any other fast pased music. Don't think you'll be dissupoined listening to ambient, chillout or even classical music (they are pretty detailed and handle acoustic instrument very well to).

Besides, the hd205 is the like the John Doe of Sennheiser You'll rarely see anyone recommend them to anyone.
You might wanna try other sound signatures then the senns since you allready got the hd595. Koss has pretty unique sound.

Thnx for the answers i got so far..
But i still dont know..

I dont really care about isolation, like to hear my surrounding sounds now and then...makes me remind im not alone..though i dont want the ppl around me to hear much leaking music...

I like the portapro's appearance..it isnt big or anything

Mayb you are right Peyotero, i should try something else then sennheiser, any other phones you guys recommend me for around 50 euro? (closed, no weird looks in public use!

)

Edit; Just did some more research on the portapro and learned its an open phone, does it leak much sound?

yes. the ksc75
biggrin.gif

they sound very similar to the portas and will cost you much less then 50 euro's. that's a fortune
tongue.gif

they are very highly regarded here in head-fi.

someone should try those aswell KSC24 - Behind-The-Head headphones - Koss
wonder how they sound...

Edit: yeah they leak some. but you''ll need more then 50 euro to get the same sound quality from closed phones.

Ah 2bad, the ksc75 wont be my choice..im bold so i think those would look really..err...weird ^^
The ksc24 does look nice though and is about 32 euros over here, but i only got 50 to spend so if they suck im fckd... argh...

The leaking with the portapros, what should i expect from it?
I do know my 595's leak lots of sound, it really wont work in public use..so if its anything like that the portapros wont be an option either..

EDIT; I used to have Sennheiser pmx 60 for outdoor use but think they had lousy sound...

Hey..

I have been using portapros a couple of years, and i like the sound (havent tried much else...)

But.. they leak sound out (people at the office are able to hear the sound), and they leak sound in...

At the subway and walking around in town i have to max out volum on the ipod to listen to podcast. I can listen to music with middle hight volumes, but, bus sounds and other noises ussually affects some of the music...

They leak a lot.

IMO, cranking up the volume enough to make it audible to other people in public (especially in public transit) is extremely rude. Plus, it won't be very good for your hearing.

Do you wear glasses? If yes, disqualify the HD205s.

Do you care if you look dumb in public? If yes, disqualify the HD205s.

My first pair of Senns, and they were the most painful cans I've ever worn. I didn't even try to give them away.

I uses Sennheiser PX100s for my travel/public phones. I know they leak, but I don't know how badly. I've never heard complaints, though.

Glasses, check.
Care if i look dumb in public, check.
HD205, disqualified.

Thnx for that.

Sennheiser CX300, how are those cords of them? Are they strong or just as rubbish as those on a 10dollar earphones?

I have the cx300 and the cord is fine (xcept the microphonics). The sound is nothing spectacular though.

You might wanna try the AKG k81dj's. Quiet a few ppl here rave about their sound.

p.s
I wanna take back my words when i "compared" the hd205 to the portapro's. I'v mistaken them with the hd201. The hd205 might sound nice but they don't look that great in public..
