I'm using ER6i for outdoor with my ipod. now I want to upgrade, actually I've 2 choice.

ER4P
E5C

I like to mid and high of my er6i but would not mind to a bit more of bass.

I know the E5c have more bass, but does it lost detail at the high ?

I also think the ER4P can give more detial mid and high, but does it have more bass than my er6i ??

Should I just go for a E3C before go up to E5C and see if Shure's sound suitable for me ??

thanks

I had a chance to "test" E3C's with my Zen Micro at the Las Vegas airport last weekend. Brookstone had them for testing, which I was surprised due to hygenics etc.

Anyways, I gave a good several minute listen with a couple of metal songs, and I personally found the E3C's totally lacking in bass. I seemed to get a good fit in the ear, but they just sounded like a lacking can in most respects.

But, as always, this is one man's opinion.

Im in the position to buy either the e3c or the er-6i for the same price ~£80, would you consider the e3c an upgrade from the er-6i? I will be using them with no eq from ipod so I was thinking that the er-6i would have better sound quality.

Kithng - My best guess is that you are going to be as unsatisfied with the E5C's treble as you are with the ER-6i's bass. If you jump to the E5C you will lose the treble detail and if you stay with the ER-6i you will be dissatisfied with the bass impact. It seems you already know this however. As such I am basicly saying that I think you will be just a little happyer with the E5C, mostly because you will have paid more for it and the feeling of cost will make it seem a little better than the ER-6i, and be completely satisfied with neither of them.

David1 - I personaly wouldn't consider the E3C an upgrade from the ER-6i. The E3C will have a little more bass and less detail in the trebel. There are other things to think about besides the bass and trebel of course and in most of them I would chose the ER-6i, including the unamped part of the equation. I wouldn't say the ER-6i is an upgrade from the E3C though, more of something in the same class just a better all around student, make sence?

Ok so both PtheD and commando think that the er-6i is better than the e3c for unamped un-eq ipod use. Seems like they've answered your question but just made my decision a whole lot harder
