Yes, you can also install it yourself and totally screw it up (literally, such as stripped screws and such). I've taken those CD3000 apart before, meanwhile it's not a completely frustrating exercise, it is certainly not an easy one either.

I would rather have someone who really know what they're doing do it for me instead.

No offense Sovkiller but...

You're notorious for being picky and hard to please so I pretty much take any opinion with a grain of salt. Not trying to stir the pot but I've seen too many times where it's gone off in some bizzare direction.

I seriously doubt it. Lindrone is one of the most ethical and nice people I have ever met online. I dont doubt him when he says that it is nice - but not quite his cup of tea.

dknightd - this "ad" actually makes it less desirable. I think it is commendable that Lindrone would put this up at the same time as his sale. It would have been just as easy for him to lie, tell everyone that it is the best thing in the world and then put up a sale ad.

He didnt do that.

Cut him some slack

Exactly what GS said...

I had to post this review, because first of all, it would be pretty messed up if I posted the review stating exactly why I didn't like it after I sold the woody CD3000. Second of all, is I know how hard Larry works on these headphones and modifications, and he deserves at least a mention from users who had tried them out.

The review itself is very honest, the sound characteristics all has been improved from my point of view. There still would be people who prefer the stock CD3000 sound, but I'm definitely not one of them. If not for the physical issues of the weight, there's no reason why I would even bother selling them. I clearly stated what I don't like about them, and that also warns potential buyers of issues that they will have to deal with if they do buy it off of me.

Even now, it's still sort of a "lame" sale... as in, I haven't bumped the FS thread in the FS forum in about 2 weeks now. I'm still considering keeping them, still considering selling them if someone offers... only because I sort of want to use that money and try something else (perhaps an amp purchase rather than headphone purcahse).

I'm sure Lindrone isn't upset if this thread gives his for sale headphones some attention. At the same time, I doubt that his opinions were colored by that fact, I don't see that his thoughts on the headphone now are inconsistent with what he's posted in the past. Plus, of course, he's pointed out shortcomings as well as strengths.

That's simple, both together

Since lindrone bought these in person from the seller, obviously he likes them, with the exception noted or I doubt he would have emptied his wallet. While each woody type weighs a bit different, I tend to like the extra weight of most of the woods myself. As with anything, you get used to it and something other than that feels "wrong" for a time. I could see how an air guitarist would have a problem if head banging, whoooosh...

For Sov, since I mentioned steak earlier, think of silver like steak... Is either of the following true... All steak is tender... All Steak is tough. Obviously not, same with silver. Depending on cable design, silver can sound brittle or liquid. Nuff about that...
