Hi!

It's been a long time since my last post! I read the threads nearly every day, but have nothing to say yet. I'm happy now with my setup, especially the non-intrusive F1 sound. ('how long will you?', I hear you asking
wink.gif
) But now I want to show you a non-specialist, non-HiFi geek's notes about something we have at home and something we've heard on other places.

Ladies and Gentlemans, my wife's short notes here:

I’m audiophiles wife. Many speakers, headphones, cables, etc. have already gone through my life. My husband is used to asking me for my opinions about them. I think I am independent reviewer, because I’m not influenced by enthusiastic exclamations of producers and customs.
I’m not familiar with trademarks, which are sorted as the best ones and which are the crapes.
I have already met with following products.
1. F1 –comfortable
Not too many bass
Their headband set up itself
Long cable – I can do comfortable almost anything. (sleeping)
Not heavy
My husband is able to hear me.
They are pleasant with any music.
2. Koss the plug - I am able to relax in means of transport.
good isolation of my ears, not falling out
I don’t offend the other passengers with my music.
3. HD 600 -Sound as pleasant as F1. (Nearly)
Little bigger than F1, but still comfortable.
Very good for classical music
4. B&W Matrix 801 - I haven’t listen these, but their built is very attractive.
They should stand in independent room, only for them!
5. Stax electrostats -too much plastic used (202, 303, 404 earspakers)
sterile sound
tingle of my ears
What head was made for?
interesting sound (4070 closed back)
6. Onkyo -Good and cheap products
main panel is from metal (CDP 7211, Receiver 8211)
7. Creek -Do you want to feel like in paradise?
listen to the F1s with Creek. (11SE, output 2)
good combo for crying baby
8. Grado -my head feel like a nut in nutcracker
too heavy (the driver housings, not the entire headset)
for bassphiles
9. Beyerdynamic -I don’t want telephone cable! (DT931, DT990 Pro)
My ears are approximately oval, not round.

That's all, folks. You can see, nothing extremely technical, but just the first impressions and, more important, feel of some equipment after long (1-3 years) time.

Moonwalker,

It is really nice to have an understanding wife around one oyu have this habit. Mine just loves her Sony V6s, and now has developed a taste for critically listening to good music. She's a doll and it sounds like she's a lot like your wife. Not technical, but knows good sound and ergonomics.

Enjoy teh music, and share the equipment with her.

If true after all these years, how very sad for Moonwalker.

It's cool you have an understanding spouse. While my husband shares my love of PDAs and gadgets, I cannot get him into headphones. He's the one that got me into this with his old Beyer 990s, but since then it seems he's gone sound-blind. He was even singing the praises of the B&O a8s until Christmas morning when he got the ath-em7s. Now he's singing the praises of them! But past that I can't get much of a reaction for anything else. I even replaced those 990s...may as well got v700s.

Uhh, on second thought, no to the v700s. I use these 990s on a daily basis.

(yes I've heard the v700s. While not bad for a portable phone..it's a bit big and expensive for that purpose)

HI: If you would like to get your husband back into headphones get him the Eggo D66 and use a portable amp with them and he will say WOW.
