I've got a pair of Ecco Seawalkers, and I've bought a jar of Meltonian Brick shoe cream polish. What I'm wondering is how long between polishing I should go.

Too many variables from how often you use them, how much you sweat, does it rain a lot where you are at? What I can tell you is that the best thing to do is not to wear the same shoe two days in a row. This to allow them to fully dry between uses.

Thats good to know. So say if I wear them about 3 times a week, then after appr. how many uses should they be cleaned? A months' worth of wear, or maybe shorter or longer?

And use shoe trees (cedar type) when they are not in use!!!!!

Maybe get int he routine of polishing them once a month, I polish mine once every three months but I have over 15 pairs so the use of each pair is not really all that much.

The biggest enemy of leather is water. Water washes certain fats out of the leather which can make it go very hard and split. Polishing shoes provides a degree of waterproofing as well making the shoes look good. If you use standard hard polish, you could polish almost every day without really hurting the shoes. I would not recommend using a cream all that often. Too much cream will make the shoe go sloppy and lose shape. Once a month is OK.

I have knowledge in this area as my family used to own a shoe manufacturing business, about 300,000 pairs a year! I have actually worked there on some of the machinery when I was younger.

shoe tree for sure

about polishing them...maybe take back the cream and get some wax polish
as for how often you should polish em...i polish my shoes after everytime i wear em and the morning before i'm gonna wear em

i'm still finding the best way to polish a shoe, how to get them as shiny as possible

I could not remember the "technical term of shoe tree"

so I did not mentioned it. Glad you did, the shoe trees help in the drying process as well as keeping the shape.
