Anyone have a suggestion for a slamming shielded nearfield monitor? I have a 24" Lcd monitor and the speakers will be approx 6 inches from either side of it and I am about 2-3 feet from the monitor. I want some decent slam so I am wondering if there is a model out there with an 8" driver that's shielded and around $300 or so new or used. Mostly I need to hear footsteps lol. It's for my gaming rig. Power is not needed as I have a decent receiver.

I had to give up my Darths b/c of my right ear so I am trying to get close to that sound. I do have a nice little sub btw.

Klipsch RB-35's would probably make a good 8" option at that price range.

Oh and you won't need shielded speakers if you're going to use them near an LCD monitor. You would if you had a CRT monitor though.

Oh cool. That opens up tons of options then if I don't need shielded.

I got some Usher S-520s from a dealer on audiogon. They were never powered demos and $100 less than retail so yehaaa. Should be a good match.
