Shanling Q1 - Retro-Styled Portable Hi-Fi Music Player

@Shanling

I am disappointed to see that the Q1 is still not available in Canada yet. In fact Shanling has disappeared pretty much all together. I am sad to see the dealer that sold me my M0 is not selling any Shanling DAP's and seems to have opted to carry Hiby DAP's along with Fiio DAP's instead. I understand that the coronavirus is affecting shipping but is there any chance the Q1 will ever make it to Canada? Please don't ask me to contact the Canadian distributor, they don't seem interested in my queries.

Unfortunately our cooperation with previous Canadian distributor ended and so far we didn't get new one.

Sorry to hear this, I hope you can rectify this as I believe the Q1 could be very popular in Canada. Alot of people asked to try my M0 when I had it. Most of the feedback I got was "boy this would be great if the screen was a little bigger and it had buttons". Both addressed with the Q1. Any thoughts about Shanling having their own online store to service smaller market countries like Canada where getting distribution seems to be more difficult? One of the things I liked about buy Sony DAP's is being able to deal with Sony directly if there are any problems.

We have no plans to open direct Shanling Online shop. For countries without official distributor, it would make no difference, as you can already purchase from nearby countries or Chinese dealers.

That is true but how does that affect access to warranty coverage? The thing about being able to import direct from the manufacturer getting warranty service is much less daunting vs trying to deal with a dealer or distributor in another country. Alot of people don't even consider this but I sold audio gear for 15 years and saw so many people including myself get burned of warranty service for imported products

If I buy a DAP in Canada I can take it to the store I bought it from. If I import it I have to ship it to the country of purchase and I would have to pay to ship it for warranty service, often both ways, correct? Not to mention the time it would take to ship it for warranty service and then get it back. I have had terrible experiences getting warranty coverage on imported products especially from China. I also want to be able to demo a DAP to make sure I like it before I decide to keep. That is nearly impossible with and imported DAP.

Unfortunately until Shanling can find a Canadian distributor I will need to stick brands I can get in Canada which for now include Fiio, Sony and more recently Hiby. I really hope Shanling can solve this issue going forward. I have recommended your DAP's to alot of people and now they are asking where can they get them.

What about going direct to amazon in countries where you don't have a distributor?

For example you provide stock direct to amazon.ca and they warehouse and ship your DAP's to Canadian customers. Also I don't understand why you would not have your own online store for at least your portable audio products like Hidizs and Hiby if you are struggling getting distributors. I understand Hidizs and Hiby are much smaller companies but by doing this Hidizs for example sells their DAP's and amazon.ca fulfills the orders. Right now you are probably losing sales in some countries like Canada because your DAP's are not available here. You are likely losing sales to Hiby and Hidizs for example because their DAP's can be purchased from amazon.ca.

The Q1 for example would sell much better if people could try them before they buy them. It is more of a mass consumer DAP than an audiophile DAP and people who will buy it are less likely to be comfortable having to import from another country. The coolness factor comes from holding it in your and experiencing it up close.

As someone with lots of audio retail experience alot of people don't want to buy audio gear site unseen and don't want the hassle to ship it back to another country. You are a bigger company than other Chinese DAP makers but the DAP market is a very small niche market so I would think you would want to sell as many as possible. Especially a DAP with cool appeal factor of the Q1

Is there a trick to get the screen to come back?

the only way I have been able to get the screen back is to hold the volume in until the shutdown prompt.

You can wake up screen with single short press on volume wheel.

If that doesn't work, please send me PM and we can have a look at it.

Very nice, songs' end cutting fixed, I like new (from FW 1.3) Now Playing screen. Thanks @Shanling :)
Is it possible to move the cover art to the bottom and leave the black top status bar? It would be more elegant I think.

Can try to run that idea over our designer.

how to install player from .apk? I can not browse to the .apk file in folders

.apk file is for installing the app on your Android phone/tablet, not Q1.

So I just recently got my Q1, there's something loose inside. I think it has to do with the LCD, if I shake it enough the screen just dies. Already messaged Shanling on Facebook to see if I get a response.

Edit: is there any way I can send this for return/warranty? I got it from Y****o Official on Lazada.

From the sound on your video, I would guess it's loose shielding plate inside the body, that's then causing some issues.

Please contact your seller for warranty repair/replacement.
