Shanling M9 Announced - Flagship High-End Portable Player

And if I understand correctly, then switching to another, more compact Shanling - will give a downgrade in SQ compared to M9/M8?

Or do you have a compact flagship in your lineup that is not inferior in sound to the M9?

A similar question comes up in different threads. Just think about it: Why would a manufacturer release a smaller flagship with identical sound performance to kill the sales of their "full-size" flagship? ;) It's the same as with SP3000 and SP3000M; they are not identical in sound and have an SP3000T tube variant. It looks like the M8T pays tribute to a warmer tonality of the original M8 with a Tube sound coloring, instead of M9T :)

It turns out that if you want a big sound in a small size, then there are no options?

It's actually about a mix of multiple aspects in the design. From the dimensions of the audio circuit, over the need for matching battery capacity, to demands of the users (How many flagship compact smartphones do you see on the market?).

Our only truly smaller Android DAP is M3 Ultra, which has to have a significantly simplified audio circuit do to its size and smaller battery.
For M6 Ultra, M8, M8T, M9, they are all pretty much the same size, with just a small difference on height.

If you want the best sound in smaller package than our full-size Android DAPs, take a look at ONIX XM5, which runs our MTOuch system.

And ONIX will also be coming out with a thinner Android player, based around ONIX XM10. But once again, its thinner size will make it give up on some other aspects and it will not be a match to M8T or any of the M9.

I have an M8. I'm interested in the M8T. I'm looking for the same sound character as the original M8. I'm curious about your answer to this.

I saw some specs on musicteck.
15h Single-Ended / 13 h Balanced
Is that correct? And when will it be available in Europe?

Yes, that's correct.

We should be shipping out to distributors next week.

hey guys, the pause and forward buttons don’t work anymore on M9. Any advises how to fix it?
Firstly, try factory reset just to see if it's some software bug.

If it's hardware issue, it would need to be serviced. It can be either done in our factory or if you have some local phone repair shop that you would trust with this.

Please email us at info@shanling.com if you would want to send it in for repair.

I just picked up a pair of moondrop chu dsp. If I plug them into my q1, i get a high pitched noise at 100 in the iem’s. This happens every few songs. When I use them with my m9, the songs play at 100% volume, and if I turn the volume down, the next song I select plays back at 100%. Are they not compatible? I’m using different music apps. This doesn’t happen with my Eva R4 or DX180.

If you use any other USB DAC with M9, does it work correctly? Might be some issue on the side of Chu.

For Q1, please check if you have the USB output set to variable.
