That article is back in 2018 and nothing new really...that was slightly announced after the 4.4mm

I guess it was to compete but seeing many makers are not considering 3.5pro as a primary choice which is understandable as it has no standard unlike 4.4mm

anyways, I don’t care much for 3.5pro. I will care for an M8Pro

What about the M8 did you not like? You seemed pretty thrilled with it.

3.5PRO is fixed standard, actually more than the 4.4mm (and its discussion over ground pin).
But so far it's purely thing of Chinese manufacturers and there is zero interest for it in other markets.

Not sure if this has been asked before, is the M8 screen gorilla glass? And is the volume knob analog?

Ah it’s the hardened glass usually used in most new smart phones. Not the typical easy scratch & shatter glass.

It's hardened glass, not exactly Gorilal Glass brand.
Volume wheel is using ALPS potentiometer.

On a lark, and not expecting much, I tried the M8 with a brand-spanking-new set of AKG K702s. Turbo mode.

Um... Wow.

VERY promising. Much more bass than I recall of my old Austrian-made K701s, perhaps because in those days I was using a Little Dot Mkiii. Makes me wonder if it's worth converting the AKGs to balanced, especially as they now cost an order of magnitude less than my other cans  Lovely soundstage.

Could be the COVID

But seriously, you've tried the M8 with AKGs? I have a newfound respect for the 701/2.
Hahaha. I have not heard the AKG’s. Just commenting on M8 in general.

.... cook an egg?! Is it discomforting to put in a pocket with that sort of heat?

From past experience I would say it's part of the burn-in cycle....After it's been played for a 100 hours or so, the temperature should stabilize

I would like to qutckly come back to the heat issue, that some people reported here.
After several 1 hour listening sessions with high gain and volume between 32 ant 46 (I cannot stand louder) my M8 is simply not getting really warm. Maybe like 1-3 degrees (Celsius) up, but that is just lukewarm. I used either TH900 or Elysium.
And I do remember it was different at the beginnung.
Just out of curiosity. Did other users also have a hot-burn-in-then-stay-cool phase?
Was this just imagination or is this a known effect? Maybe @Shanling could comment.

If you play music while charging (typical activity during burn-in process), it gets warm. Just playing music without charging does not generate much heat even in brand-new condition.

Maybe there is something different with my M8 or what I call warm and you call warm are different. I am sitting in Savanah Georgia on a cool day, listening to Traillii on M8 with stock cable FLAC in high gain. I have the M8 in my jacket pocket which is pressing against my chest. Has been about 45 minutes this way and it is getting a bit uncomfortable. Not so hot to hurt but definitely noticeably warm bordering on hot. Sounds great Milt Jackson’s vibes with mics set up high keys on right low keys on left feel like I am standing in front of him. Way past past burn in.

I used M8 in my jacket pocket while walking in Manhattan in a cold weather. And yes, I detected a bit warmth but nothing overly warm.
Did you detect a difference in the amount of heat generation under the same usage condition between brand-new and burned-in status?
