Shanling M6 Player - New version with ESS DACs coming soon
Oct 11, 2021 at 10:24 AM Post #1,276 of 1,456
I found the problem: I was using USB-C <=> USB-C cable. When I changed it to USB-C <=> USB-A everything started to run smoothly.

But I am encountering some serious problems using it as a USB DAC. It's very common in the middle of songs to have some relatively loud bursts, especially when I'm playing DSD files. Can you fix this via firmware update? This is irritating and can even damage my hearing!

Other questions I have are:

As USB DAC it doesn't unfold from MQA?

As USB DAC it can't go up to 32bit/768Khz, why?

I bought the M6(21) to be my DAP and my only DAC for everything. If these problems continue I will sell it soon.

I would really appreciate an answer from you @Shanling

Kind regards,
Bernardo Cândido
I have the same issue when using the USB DAC playing DSD file , occasionally it produce a large crashing sound ..

any idea ? Thank

Can you please tell me what software are you using for DSD files playback and what setting?

I recently got some Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch earphones, and while I managed to connect them to my Moto G8 Power mobile with a bit of faffing, I've been unable to connect them to my Shanling M6. It keeps saying "Melomania connected!" followed quickly by "Melomania disconnected" and the Bluetooth settings read "Melomania Touch L (no media)". I've been in touch with Cambridge Audio support, who seem a bit baffled by anything unfamiliar to them, and I was wondering if anybody else has given these a go. If so, how did you connect them?
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone just got a question about the good old original shanling m6 DAP. Had a search online and couldn't get a clear answer. I was thinking about buying the beyerdynamic dt 1990 pro and wasn't sure if the shanling m6 would have enough power to drive them.

From my understanding the beyerdynamic are not balanced so it would only be able to use the m6 unbalanced output which has a power output of 160mv at 32 ohms. The impedance of the headphones are 250ohms.

Any advise would be helpful. It would also be nice to know if others are using the m6 to drive high impedance headphones and what success they are having.

Thanks

We got some other reports on these TWS, we will try to get them in for testing to see what might be different.

Sometimes manufacturers of Bluetooth earphones or go bit "unique" with their implementation, causing compatibility issues. (Sennheiser being good example of this)

In my opinion, single ended of old M6 might be too low for your DT1990.

Thanks Shanling, I opted for the Sennheisser 660s which is 150 ohms imendance and can work balanced. The Shanling in balanced mode powers these nicely

Well, my dac broke about a week after I bought my Susvaras, and I was missing them since I didn't have another dac to integrate into my system, so I figured lets put the 4.4 Ballanced cable from my T1.3 on the Susvara, and see what happens if I play it on my Shanling. Wow! On high gain at about 80% I was just laying in bed in awe, how can this little beast drive the Susvaras! It actually has bass! Sound stage suffers but it's still... Beautiful sounding! That's big time props to this little m6 21!
