Unfortunately, no. The control buttons only work sometimes in other music apps, from Onkyo or Hiby for example. I have to press the buttons multiple times to get them to register as a press once, and then sometimes it registers 2 presses at once if I press the buttons firmly. It occurs less frequently when I've just pressed play or when the screen is on. When the screen is off or I've been listening for a few minutes, that is when the control buttons get buggy.

And yes, the controls are all set properly in the settings menu. I knew to do at least that! Haha.

I would recommend to try to do complete factory reset, but I understand that can be annoying to get it all back to working state.

Shanling M6 Firmware V3.0

Download from Google drive or use OTA update on M6.

It’s strongly recommended to perform factory reset of M6 after updating to V3.0.
This process will delete all files/apps/accounts/data from M6. Go to “Back & reset” in settings, choose “Factory data reset” and confirm. Wait until device restarts.

New system functions:

1. Added USB DAC function. Connect M6 to computer to use it as external soundcard.

Note:
· Shanling USB drivers are needed for use with Windows computers. Drivers can be downloaded from our official website. No drivers needed for Mac.
· Switch between USB transfer/storage mode and USB DAC mode in Quick access menu.
· USB DAC supports only PCM playback, no DSD.

2. Added Prime Mode. Switching M6 to simplified setting, with only Shanling Music app available.
Note: Go to Quick Access menu to switch between Prime mode and Android mode.

Shanling Music app changes:

1. Added new feature, allowing to download album art and lyrics to currently playing file.

2. Added “Specified folder scan” feature to Library update.

3. Added support of OTG memory playback.

4. Added Russian language.

5. Improved Wi-Fi transfer feature, enabling it to save files directly onto Micro SD card.

You didn't have any problem with streaming apps then? Like @uxmal reported a few days ago in this post. By the way @uxmal do you still encounter issues? Anyone else wants to chime in on this?

I have since returned the unit. Even a 4-year old Xiaomi (+-200€) smartphone managed to stream with significantly better wi-fi signal reception, in the same conditions of course.

Agreed. Still early going for me but "Super slow roll off" seems to be the most natural and relaxed sounding filter.

I also need gapless for many albums and can only see using the Prime mode after gapless is implemented. It's a shame because I find the Shanling app sounds best out of the various music apps I use (Neutron, Poweramp, and UAPP), but I'm basically forced to use those so I'm not distracted by gaps.

@Shanling Please pass thanks to the software team for all of their work so far and ask them if / when gapless will be implemented in the Shanling app. Thanks!

Agreed. The Shanling app does sound best to me as well, from the few apps I've tried out so far. The engineers should know they've done a great job in that aspect. I do think the lack of gapless hurts the experience overall. To me, it's a baseline feature. No competitive music app should go out without it.

It was released during the chaos of past few months, so got little bit under radar. In long term, both the brown and black case should be available.
