Shanling M6 Player - New version with ESS DACs coming soon
Jul 2, 2020 at 5:32 AM Post #904 of 1,455
I'm looking to buy an M6 to use primarily as a transport for tidal into my N8 but will still use it for on the go listening. Looking to see which IEM's are a popular pairing with it? Musical / balanced tone (multi genre), easy driven, preferably 2 pin but not a deal breaker. New / used but ideally sub $500...

Throw up a few suggestion for me...

And secondly, although M6 doesn't have MQA support, if used as a transport into N8 which does, will I get MQA playback from Tidal?

I use Fiio FH7, these are amazing, paired with M6 is close to perfection, based on your taste I think you will enjoy them, $449. Order a balance cable too. I do not think M6 support MQA, but i can not be 100% sure. personally I´m not a MQA believer; but you can not go wrong with the M6

I use fh7 also that are awesome I have the blon 3 and today just got theo legacy 3. Haven't much cared for the blon 3. I think it's the fit so hard to get them to seal right. M6 doesn't do mqa

thanks Shanling, I can`t wait to test my DSD and ISO files; I should now be able to really tell if dsd provides a better sound quality (i.e. vs red book). I think SACD or DSD files come from a better mastering process, therefore leading to better sound overall, but the factor is not the container (DSD or PCM) but the detail and care in the mastering process. I have this theory for while now, so my plan now is to convert my DSD or SACD to FLAC (red book and hi-ress 24 bit, 82Khz) and test.

Glad to see the Shanling team is stepping up to support their fans!

The play/pause button is not working any longer when the screen is off after the firmware update. The other play control buttons still work though. Going to do a factory reset, see if that works.

Shanling... it is not updating the right version.... in the update screens shows new 3.22, but aparently dowloads 3.21, installs it but when checking 3.21 still as current version.
very odd, is there a local update file available?

thanks.
