    Thanks for the fast response.
    1) I tried it and it worked. Should be the default by the way
    2) this is a bug and needs to be fixed. I used the function on one specific folder. How can I repair the database if there are double entries? I also experienced an artist with about 15 albums but only one was listed. Updating the single folder doesn't help. Here I also had to reset the M2X. The code for the internal database seems to be not the best part of software on the M2X.
    3) The images are there in the tag as well (I'm using JRiver MediaCenter on my Mac) and they do show up if the song is playing but not in the list view. Any idea how to fix this?
    4) Maybe it would be fair to add this to your marketing papers "Airplay (receive only)"

I like the build quality and the sound of the M2X - but still I'm not sure should I keep the device or send it back - the software doesn't shine... :frowning2:

    1. It's set On by default, so less experienced users don't send us messages about their player not showing their music.
    2. There is no way how to correct database, just rescan. The albums that weren't showing, didn't they show up in unknown artist?
    3. Can you send me one file over PM to have a look at it?

    1) OK
    2) as I wrote - I have two problems with a rescan: missing albums for an artist (they show up under "albums") and duplicated titles for an album. Both can not be corrected by a rescan. If I rescan an album with duplicated titles I get 3 entries instead of 1 and for the missing albums: they will not appear either after a rescan. The only fix I found: reset the M2X and then rescan. At least an option could be to reset the database only. That way I would not have to reenter WiFi settings...
    3) I will!

    2. If it shows up under album, but it's missing under artist, there will be some problem with Artist tag and these files will be under unknown artist.
If you have any other microSD card, you can put it in and update files, which will be like resetting library without need to reset player.

just as an info: there is no title showing up under unknown artist.
I tried a different SD Card, updated the database, reinserted the original sd-card and updated again. Now the album where every title was in 4 or 5 times (for each update one entity) contains all titles twice. Found no other album with duplicate entries so far. All files in this album ar .flac files?!

Am I reading this correctly, M3s puts out more power in balanced output than M2X?

Also, I am hoping that you (or someone) can compare the sound quality of the M2X vs the M3s. I see that this question has been asked a few times in this thread but not really answered. Is the M2X considered to be a step up from the M3s? Or is it the other way around, is the M3s actually considered to be the superior player?

    Thank you!!

    Hi @Shanling,

Ive been enjoying the M2X player.

    1. The "buttons lock" feature is nice, and its nice that one can activate it by swiping down from the top of the screen. However in use, today, I saw that the feature is kind of useless for pocket use, because what happens is the scroll wheel is so easily pressed (as others have noted), then the player wakes up, and all buttons are active.

The "double click to wake up" option does fix this, I think. So, why not make it one of the options in the "buttons lock" menu? Then people could easily toggle it on or off without having to go into the settings, by simply swiping down from the top of the screen.

    2. Is there any way to extend the amount of time the screen is on before it shuts off? It seems to be only 20 seconds at present. Can it be extended to, say, a minute? Is there a setting I'm missing?

By any chance, isn't there some extra cue file that might result in this?

    It's correct, M3s output 230mw@32ohm, M2X does only 120mW@32Ohm.

Overall we consider M2X the better sounding one, but M3s had quite unique tuning among Shanling players, so I wouldn't be surprised if some people prefer it.

    1. Will think about adjusting it.

    2. Under "Idle" setting, there is Screen Off setting.

    Thank you for your replies!!

    1. It would really be great if you could adjust it. It would really make a lot of sense I think, as pressing the wheel by accident is the main problem for pocket use. Thanks!

    2. When I look at my "Idle" setting, I only see a "sleep timer". I'm not sure what it does, but I just turned it on and set it for different amounts of time, but still the screen still goes off after exactly 20 seconds. Am I looking in the wrong spot?

    3. I'd definitely be interested in why Shanling considers the M2X to have better sound overall, and also why the tuning of the M3s is unique among Shanling players. ( I've never owned the M3s, but I have noticed that the M2S is warmer, maybe less detailed (?). )

    Thanks!!

    2. Try to swipe left, twice.

    3. We don't discuss in details our opinions on sound quality, because it always just ends up in 10 different people sharing their 10 different views on it. M3s was overall more neutral, flatter, even brighter, than our other players.

Will this player ever support prime music?

    Most likely no.

    Hi,

    2. Fantastic, thank you!

    3. Thanks. That's interesting, so the M3 sounds quite different than the M2s...? To me, at least, the M2s seems warm...? I had assumed the sound was similar as they look almost like twins but I guess not.

    3. I have a question about the playing interface. While a song is playing, an accidental touch to the screen results in, for example, the trash bin/ equalizer screen, or perhaps a jump to another part of the song. Is there any way to disable the touch screen sensitivity during playback so that this cannot happen? In other words, I'd be happy to be have the ability to be limited to the actual buttons on the side of the player for back/forward/pause/play options. Is there a way to do this? If not, could it possibly be added to the playing interface options? That would be amazing as it would completely eliminate the possibility of inadvertent touches messing up your place during playback. (I do understand that its possible to use the side buttons while the screen is off but its not quite the same thing. Its nice to be able to handle the player, while the screen is on, without any accidental touch changing your place in the song/ calling up a delete screen etc. Like with the M2s/M3s. If this simple option were implemented it would make the M2x 2 types of player in one, really.)

This is perhaps the most insane thing I've seen on Head-Fi this month. Of course "update library" should update the library, not append files. It sounds like you're saying that every time a new file is added, a database update will duplicate all the existing files as well, which is not how any media player should operate, nor how any media player has operated since the days of the Creative Nomad.
