Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out

I have helped quite a few guys at the Shanling booth with any questions they had about this great player. Was good to see many being sold and new happy owners.
I can't recommend any other music player at this price point, so Shanling did a wonderful job delivering so many features in a small player that's affordable to anyone.

I'm glad to hear that you found happiness with this DAP!

Thanks for your feedback!!! I love the look, the material used, the built quality. It has more power respect of the Sony A35. The only doubt i have is about the battery life! it's good enough with its 9 hours declared by Shnling?
There are some distinctive sound "shades" between Cayin N3, Sony A35 and this M2s (in example: xxx warmer than yyy; or yyy more detailed than zzz... etc...)?

thank you so much!

PS
Buying in UK it's inconvenient because of the pound-euro exchange rate: it would cost me 215 euro + international shipping taxes.
There are some other sellers with reasonable shipping times?

We are the only official seller of the M2s in the UK (We sell direct, through Amazon and also eBay), so buying from anywhere else will mean if you ever have warranty issues you will need to deal with the place of purchase.

We have the M1 in stock ready for dispatch :D

Thanks. Saw a few stores on ebay selling it, yours must be one of those. I'll check.

I haven't tried all (or most of) the available DAPs in this price range, but I must say, the M2S fits my needs perfectly. I like it so much that it is literally my take-everywhere DAP. I've become pretty much accustomed to the UI, so one-handed operation is easy now. It helps a lot that it packs a mean punch in terms of sound, too.

Hi guys!!! I've discovered right now this DAP! The build quality seems great, but in terms of DACs, Preamp and overall power/sound quality, which is the best choice, in your opinion, between the M2S, the Cayin N3 and the Sony A-35?

Hope you can help me!

thank you,
ferdi

Well they are all nice, I would rate ease of use and UI as follows- A-35 #1, M2s #2, and N3 #3. Build wise I would rate M2s #1, A-35 #2, and N3 #3. And sound wise it's really tough as they all sound good to me, Sony is the warmest and has the biggest stage, but M2s and N3 have a bit more detail and resolution. N3 sounds a bit fuller than M2s and has a bigger stage, M2s to me is the least warm ( many would disagree ) :) but has the smallest stage, but sometimes I like the stage a bit more intimate, and it doesn't have a tiny stage like say a clip+. The M2s and N3 definitely have more features with external DAC use, two way Bluetooth and Apt x Bluetooth, USB C digital out.

Ha ha plus the sony has a 35mw output which anything with a resistance of 60 ohms or over isn't going to be driven very good! It is underpowered as all sonys are :frowning2: Ha ha Ferdi I just read your other post and yes the sony has better battery life, probably about 20 hours per charge ( of real usage ). And it should because it's a d class digital amp with a weaker output than the n3 and m2s at 135 mw per channel!

They are really all nice, and all sound good- just depends on what you want. I will tell you I only have the M2s ( sold the A-35 and N3 ) and I'm a ****ing picky person, so there is that lol. Hoped this helped.

We will release the tool for people to DIY the UI in the future.:o2smile::o2smile:

Any update on this yet? The M2s is proving to be a fantastic little device and I'd love to be able to make some themes for it

You help me a lot and thank you!!!
So, you prefer, at this moment, a less warm sound! I listen to alt rock, indie, instrumental post rock, songwriting (acoustic most of all), some classical (piano). It's easy tell you what I DON'T listen to ahaha: Hip-Pop and Rap!
First of all, i want an immersive experience when i listen to music...not talking about the high volume, but something of visceral and deeper. Don't know if i prefer a warmer or colder sound at this moment.
Second, I would like to have something detailed: playing guitar and singing, i'd like to listen to as more details as possible in a song that i have to "study" for the band practice in my garage.

Then look at something like the iDSD BL. You're not gonna find that type of quality in a DAP...not yet anyways. But, having said that, the M2s is GREAT as a stand alone, as well as a source for using an external DAC like the iDSD or Mojo

Surely interested to a "stand alone" source!!! About the 9 hours of continued play declared by Shanling, you think that's a real estimate (with FLAC files and 32 ohms earbuds, train ambient)? have you some issues with the battery?

thank you again!
