Dear Joe,

Waiting for those photos or a description of the issue. Meanwhile you may also look for two files that may help us with debugging:
1. After a crash, open HiBy Music, swipe from the left to open the menu, tap "Settings", go down to the bottom and tap "Error Report". A prompt will come up pointing you to the location of a hibysdk.log file you may send to us for analysis at service@hiby.com.

2. Also look for a folder called "crash" at Android/data/com.hiby.music/files/crash on your internal SD card. If this is available you may zip this up and send it to us together with hibysdk.log, this will be of the greatest assistance to us.

Thank you and best regards,
Joe

Sent an email today Joe. Thanks! Attached a video recording of the app crash. :,(

My player, (M2S) does not play cue files of FLAC and sayd playback is failed
But file plays perfectly on notebook. How can I solve that? Thanks for help

Can you tell me little more? On Cue files, they don't show up or is there some error in playing?

Yes, sure. There are 2 kind of problem I observed with Cue

1) It shows cue file and flac, and in the down of it, there is list of songs, but when you press on that songs, it says. Playback failed (actually it plays main flac file, which includes all sonds, but it is too long)
2) Second type, is when you have FLAC in the folder, with Cue file, but when you press to enter that folder, it says, there is no file or file not found

I can record video and give you link, to see all that

Please advise, how to fix that. Thanks

Hi, I have a small question about the informations displayed on the Shanling M2s.
I have both ALAC and AAC files in my library. All AAC files are encoded in CBR 256 kbps 'maximum quality' (with XLD on Mac). So on my computer (using iTunes or Swinsian soft.), in the bitrate column is displayed '256 kbps'. And also on my Sony NWZ-A15. Here all is good.

-> However, when I look on the Shanling M2s the bitrate displayed varies for each song. For example, one AAC file will have 311 kbps, another one 276 kbps, but never upper than 319 kbps and never lower (as I have seen) than 256 kbps.

So... I would like to understand this difference in the bitrate display.
Maybe the Shanling estimates the bitrate with another method instead of reading the bitrate Tag, if it exists? (I am not an expert)
Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately I have no idea how exactly does HiBy software reads bitrate date, especially in connection to Mac.

At least it shows higher bitrate, that's good, right? :)

And we have here Friday, weekend around corner, holidays/BF ongoing in parts of the world, so what is your rig for today?

I went with my favorite combo of M2s and Noble Sage, that always please me with smooth and warm sound.

Oh I think there is a mistake regarding the understanding of my question.
I don't use HiBy software. I am just confused on why the bitrate displayed on the Shanling M2s, for my CBR 256 kbps AAC files, differ always from 256! On my computer I have no difference, obviously because this is Constant Bit Rate encoding.

What you need to understand, is that the Shanling DAPs (at least the M1, M2s, & M3s) all use an embedded version of the HiBy Music Player software, to play music.
Shanling builds the hardware, and HiBy provides the music playing software.
One of the Head-Fi Forum members is a developer for HiBy ( @Joe Bloggs ) and he may be able to answer your question about the HiBy Player software.

Hi Guys!

I would like to inform you that Shanling M2s is working perfectly with SanDisk Ultra 400 GB microSDXC card. There is no way to index all of the files, but it is not a problem for me - I listen to whole albums and I just use folder browsing. Together with OTG SD card reader this little device is armed with 600 Gigas (another SanDisk 200 GB card) in the same time!
On the picture: my very, very best friend with Aune E1 IEMs. :)

.....

Just curious why the indexing doesn't work. What is happening? Will the process be aborted? Why is that (limitation on the player to handle the amount of songs?)?

I usually also prefer folder browsing most of the times hence no deal breaker in case I would opt for the 400GB card. Still my curiosity

There is a hard limit of number of the indexed songs which is exactly 15k items. It is programmed in the Hiby Music and it is related to among of the memory needed to keep the database I think. Maybe saving the music DB to the SD card would be a solution to brake this limit.
