Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

A bit overdramatic no?
You can talk endlessly about drama and people, but the full equalizer from these conversations in Shanling M0 will not appear ...

At the moment, Shanling has publicly promised to introduce a full-fledged equalizer in M0, and the next generation - is better than now in m5s.

Since I already bought m0 and I like its small size - I continue to hope and wait for the software update.

And while I'm waiting - I cannot use my hybrid headphones with m0 - for comfort, they require a serious correction of the frequency response in the range of 100-500 Hz. (bgvp dmg)

Im planning to buy the Sony wh-1000xm3, any one been using it with the M0, any feedback regarding the quality of the bluetooth and the connection? I convert my flacs to 320 mp3.

i have a friend who used m0 with wh-1000xm3 and it worked flawlessly, he aint audiophile but told me sounded really good.
lucky for you, m0 also support sony's LDAC...so you will get best sound possible :)
just to inform you tho, i don't think it matters much which device you use with Bluetooth, it all depends on the headphone itself..unless perhaps there is DSP in play..maybe

For someone who was supposed to have 'left' and quit the m0 you do seem to be still here?
It's like a child's tantrum: "I''m leaving!" hours later: "I'm really leaving!" *eventually at the door* "Still leaving!" *outside the door* "I've left!".

I was hoping we'd get some peace from you, it was a relief. Sadly not for long...really wish this forum had a block or mute function.

And when I have space in my pocket for something 2-3 times the size and an extra £60-70 to burn I'll let you know, but you're not really not comparing like with like.

Hey its a free country and I wasn't going to but paddler57 keeps mentioning me in his posts. So I responded and the person I sold mine to is not savvy on this stuff so I will check in from time to time for any new information and possible firmware updates to help him out. I also know several people who bought one after trying mine so again keeping an eye on this thread for them as well. It is also possible Shanling will post about possible new products first on a thread like this one so again will be checking in from time to time. If puddler57 wants me to stay away then he needs to shut his yap figuratively about me in his posts and I won't have a reason too, simple enough.

Wait last time I checked they are both DAP's with similar features and specs so I am comparing like to like. If size is the only factor in comparing DAP's then I guess we can't compare it to most other DAP's according to you. The M7 is a very portable DAP and some would argue a much more practical sized very portable DAP compared to the M0 and they are not that far apart cost wise. There are price drops on the M7 right now. Some who can't get their hands on the M6 right now are being offered the M7 for the same price as the M6. The problem the M0 has is for only $60.00 more the M7 beats it in every area except power and frankly in real world use not by much in my case. Screen size and resolution, sound quality, bluetooth support with AptX HD and connection reliability and range, battery life and overall functionality and usability and oh yeah features. It even has an FM tuner, if you ask me you are getting a heck of alot more for only $60.00 more.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the M0 is being compared like to like to several other DAP's on several other threads including the Fiio M series threads. As long as the M0 is missing basic features found in other DAP's these missing features will garner attention, kind of unavoidable especially considering how long it has been on the market pushing almost a year.

One recommendation: If you are running just mp3, you can try to play around with different LDAC settings. Lower quality of LDAC significantly improves quality of connection, while the lower bitrate should be not recognizable with mp3 files.

Any update on the control app?

Unfortunately no update. It's also planned as control app for UP2, so adding more functions.

M0 works great as a USB DAC with iPhone X, using the apple camera adaptar, now I can listen to Tidal Masters, in the IPhone X connecting the M0 to through the adaptor.

What do you have in the general plan to upgrade to the M0 player?

With M0, honestly not much you can change due to its size limitations.

what's the latest recommended by shanling version we should be on for the M0?

I've run my 300ohm VE Zens, 250ohm Beyerdynamic 770 and MK3 Argons (even my HifiMan 400X) off the little square where as my Hiby R3, Activo(AK) CT-10, and Hidiz AP-60 Pro cannot adequately power them. Only my Zishan Z3 has comparable power for something similar in size.

The M0 UI may be a challenge but compared to the Z3 which doesn't even have a screen it's amazing especially when it includes APTX, APTX HD and LDAC which the R3, CT-10 and AP-60 Pro or Z3 don't have. I looked at the M6 and above but deferred to the Activo CT-10 also has Cobuz/Tidal offline support but runs an AK engine.

Being able to clip the little M0 to my big over ear headphones like the 770, Nightowls and Argons with a short cable is what I like about the little M0
Mobility like a bluetooth headset without having to use bluetooth or carry another device in your pocket

No APTX HD by the way. LDAC is amazing though!
