Just letting u know Shanling that the memory leak bug still exists in the latest firmware.

I have around 22k files and i use shuffle mode .. sometimes when i keep forwarding like 10 songs in a row, the device hangs while the sound is working for the latest song but the device is unresponsive, and i have to hold the power button to restart.

Is that the memory bug or something else ?

Also, yesterday i faced a problem the device didnt boot up, kept trying but hangs at boot screen, i removed the memory card and it worked fine, when i inserted it back it hanged again, i removed the card then turned on and inserted while it is running and it was read successfully then updated the database, and now works fine.

MediaMonkey has a feature 'Auto-Organise Files...'

Just select your whole music collection, select this feature, enter the folder and filename structure you want based on your tags and then leave it to get on with it.

I use 'C:\Users\technobear\Music\<Genre>\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> <Title>_<Artist>'

This works well for both single-artist and multi-artist albums. If you have classical music you might need something that includes 'Composer'. Read the manual, it's quite flexible.

Great information. My use of Media Monkey has been rather limited. Essentially, my newer (inferior) laptop I got from a few years ago couldn't really handle iTunes (actually, it wouldn't update it so it wouldn't run), so I switched to media monkey and had a few stints of organizing my MP3 library. I've always done a bang-up job in iTunes with that stuff (perfectly sorted, album artwork, etc.) so my issue is that there's a lot of random folders with no music in them in my big music folder along with old folders that were not removed (so, as an example, Aerosmith will be sorted but there could be a torrent folder still in there saying "Aerosmith - Toys in the Attic (1976 - Beezlebub upload)" etc. So those folders without music are basically 99% of the problem for folder browsing as iTunes would have dealt with the rest. I guess I can go in and manually pull a lot of them out though....

Shuffle still sounds like a bit of a nightmare with this device. For the record, my MP3s are all at 128 which I find to be perfectly listenable. No, it's not Hi-Res or anything but this is the music I absolutely love and want to have easy access to again (the rest of my library consists of Amazon Music adds ONLY from the last couple years, FLAC rips of albums I bought over a period circa 2014-2016 on cassette or vinyl, and a good chunk of Hi-Res music....once I pare down some of the FLAC/Hi-Res downloads that I got out of mere curiosity (as in delete the ones I don't dig), my full library of digital files not on Amazon is ~1TB).

Anyway, I bought one of these. They look real cool, supposedly sound great, etc. Just doesn't seem like anybody, after all these years, has really perfected the ease of use that the iPod offered.

Alright, so this is a lot easier than I thought it would be. Maybe a couple hours at most to delete folders that just have the occasional album art or whatever. Everything sorted via iTunes for all those years is fine, so there's just some leftover folders from my "Media Monkey" era.

So, I will certainly just use the folder sorting because that's way easier. If I just swap out cards (because I have a big library), it should be fine to go from one to the other, right? Because I wouldn't be trying to update the library database or anything.

And the 40,000 song limit doesn't apply to shuffle, right? I understand the device could have issues (as mentioned in this thread) trying to shuffle through that many songs though.

As you can see on the video I weren't using shuffle.

Got the device and all is well but...is there any way I can shuffle the entire library when only using folder mode?

Unfortunately no, during folder playback it only shuffles among song in one folder.

Shanling M0
USB output setting variable volume Is USB-DAC hardware control?
Or is it software control via SRC on the M0 side?

It's software, it was included mainly due to people wishing to use SUB-C headphones with M0.

Just make a playlist (on the PC) with all your songs, then shuffle that playlist.

So, how do you correctly do this? I've tried in both VLC and Foobar and I just get "file not found" when I click on anything. I think it's a directory issue because the drive is listed as E:/whatever when it's in my PC but is probably something else entirely when it isn't plugged in....

Edit #1: Hmm. Looks like an M3U playlist created in Foobar is actually working and it does shuffle. It's the one located IN the folder with the rest of the music and seems to have all the music.

The problem? Shuffle is clearly listing "of 3900 tracks" or somewhere around that number. I'll try to scroll through the whole thing and see if that helps before I shuffle.

Edit #2: Alright, so it gets me to just the letter "B" as far as artists go. Hmmm. Guess there's a playlist cap in the device?

Edit #3: So the M3U8 playlist appears to have the entire MP3 library. When I click a song I don't get "file not found"....rather, nothing happens and the device just freezes up. Perhaps it is involved in an insanely long loading time to start playing that song and queue up a 50,000+ song shuffle?

Also, have not updated the device at all. Is it worth it? I just don't want to run into other problems...

Our system is not build to manage library or playlist of 50 000 files.
