I've been inactive on head-fi and didn't see there was a new firmware out. Updated and it seems to be working now!

Want to suggest a simple 'car mode'. Any other users like this idea? Maybe you have another device that does similar. I'm thinking with this enabled:

    - AC (non-data) power: start up or wake up & play
    - power cuts out: pause (player soon sleeps or shuts down depending on other settings)
    - once end of current playlist is reached, shuffle all songs on player

Enjoyed using the M0 on a couple of road trips this summer. Much better sound than my cheap USB bluetooth adapter. But controls are too manual to bother with everyday car use.

Interested in this product. Any chance it will support a 1TB micro SD card?

Also, how does it work if you switch out micro sd cards? Does it have to take a few minutes each time to build the database or does it remember?

Also, any tips for a large song library? (My MP3 collection alone is like 50,000+ so I am worried about indexing issues and SD cards, etc.)

Doesn't remember, has to rebuild database. Also, it takes long (like 5-10 mins).
Unless you mean take out the SD card and then re-insert the same one (not switching cards). In that case it does remember. While the card is out it'll just say 'File not found'.

I'm at 16k songs right now (256gb MicroSD) and still haven't hit the song limit. Remeber that Shanling told me that the limit was very high and unlikely to be met. Don't know more than that.

I suppose 1TB would work fine, but haven't tried it myself.

Ok, will report to software team.

In theory 1TB card should be fine, but we didn't test it yet.

If you are fine with using folder browsing, you don't need to do any updates.

Our system limit is set at 40 000 files, but that's applicable only to library, it doesn't affect folder browsing.

Hmmm. Don't think I could get away with just folder browsing because of the way it's all sorted (poorly). It's VERY well sorted once it's all dumped into iTunes or Media Monkey, etc.

5-10 minutes isn't too bad to pull a switcheroo every once in awhile with two SD cards. Interesting....

Not too bad at all, expect rather pointless. The 'database' belongs with the music and could easily be stored on the sd card itself, storing it on the internal memory is silly.

It's better to not use the internal database anyway...it rarely updates properly (usually I have to try twice - first one always fails a low number, and then something like 4,000 or 7,000 or 14,000) and freezes/crashes a lot on play. I mean every 30 minutes. I'm only using a 256Gb card as well - well under 40,000 tracks, something like 16-18,000. I am shuffling the entire database though. Maybe people who play only one or two albums are fine...

Better is to generate a playlist from your folders, or play from folders if you can...that way it rarely crashes. The m0 simply cannot cope with large databases, it don't think it has the processing power.

Amazingly something we agree on! Probably the only thing...also if it was like that then you could store the Favourites on the card and then export them somehow...then they wouldn't become useless if you switch cards.

I agree. It would be a good idea to be able to export the favorites to a text file or a playlist file.

I use a 400 Gb card full of ALAC tracks and the database update works fine for me. It takes about 15 minutes or so, and I just leave the M0 until it is done. I last updated the database when I upgraded the firmware to 3.1 and all went well. I always use the M0 in shuffle mode with that number of tracks and it works perfectly.

MediaMonkey has a feature 'Auto-Organise Files...'

Just select your whole music collection, select this feature, enter the folder and filename structure you want based on your tags and then leave it to get on with it.

    I use 'C:\Users\technobear\Music\<Genre>\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track#> <Title>_<Artist>'

This works well for both single-artist and multi-artist albums. If you have classical music you might need something that includes 'Composer'. Read the manual, it's quite flexible.

Btw. this is how it looks like (on this video it miraculously unstucked itself but usually it lasts until a reset (or even a few resets in a row).

BTW. Still waiting for the ReplayGain and an option to disable icons ^^
