Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Currently colours for all formats are the same. I told designer to look into possibility to have them separated by format.
That's a great idea. How about colour coding them to quality in stead?

e.g. Red for lossy, blue for lossless, yellow for hi-res and white for DSD or something like that? Of course, the codec name written into the colour coded icons.

I've always been more concerned with quality over the actual codec used. Like whether the files are lossless or lossy rather than if it's FLAC or ALAC.

Thing is, system can now recognize format from file name itself and put it into menu as such. If we would want to do quality, it could easily filter lossy, but then for lossless it would need to be looking into information on bits and sampling rate, to decide which one is hi-res. And not sure if it can do such thing.

What does it mean if the Shanling M0 gets hot while listening to music with it? Also, does it matter if I updated firmware without full battery? Is that what's making it hot?

One more thing, can the M0 make IEMs get burnt out? Because my B400s used to emit a burning smell and I only for the first time ever used them with the Shanling M0.

M0 can get little bit warmer when playing while charging, also sometimes playing Hi-Res files or DSD can have similar effect.

M0 has comparable or smaller output than most portable players on the market. Any properly build IEMs will be completely safe with it.
If you are using IEMs for the first time and they smell like burning, it's more likely question towards their manufacturer.

I'm not sure where problem could be. I tested with our MW100, using aptX and all EQ changes were clearly audible.

Anybody else experienced such problem?

Will talk to them about white cover art.

Regarding icons, you have icons on all levels to indicate different things, not sure if it would be possible to have only some of them removed.

We actually took it as advantage, you can quickly jump into now playing screen just with two taps of wheel. And quick panel, I was talking with designer team about putting it into now playing screen and overall adjusting it to be more useful. Will see how it evolves.

It's still the same old EQ system, just with added customization.

Unfortunately no update at this time.

Fixed 10 bands.

We are now mainly looking into possibility to change EQ using wheel, which would improve accuracy.

Our core market is still China and apparently they like these things...

For some reason it's different from quick panels on M2S and M5s, where you swipe from lower edge, he it's simple swipe up. So while it works in main menu and should work as good on now playing screen, it's not possible to put it into submenus, where it would be interfering with scrolling.

Good point and something that should be fixed.

Hmm, 4 years of firmware updates? That's quite a lot, not even google and their Nexus/Pixel phones get that. Not even mentioning other manufacturers.

As I posted previously, any user with these problems should PM me, dealing with them directly and getting devices fixed.

On older players, it was different system.

OPUS is still on list of things to add, but since it's pretty unknown and not widely used format( and Youtube downloads are not really something we expect to change it), I'm not sure when software team will get to it.

Please send me PM.

200 ms is standard for aptX and LDAC, to get lower latency you either need to use aptX LL or there must be some delay set in software, there is no other way around it. Likely Avantree had some build in software that was setting this delay automatically. You would need to look into sound setting on your computer and change the sound delay to offset this native problem of Bluetooth.

Hello.

Not sure what happened or why did I experience issues with the EQ, but now it is working and I can hear every band change or preset switch.

Thank you for the update, the tiny M0 got a whole lot more beast in it now :)

@Shanling thanks for the reply.

There's another little niggle to report.

When Listening to 24/192, the first fraction of a second of the music garbles when automatically progressing to the next song. Doesn't do it when I skip tracks. Is it just my unit? It's done it since way before this update so nothing to do with 3.0. FYI, I have gapless playback switched on. It hasn't been a huge issue cos I don't own that much 24/192 content and it burns through battery.

It's so nice to be able to have such free and easy communication with the manufacturer about such minor issues. I for one really appreciate it.

Surely then it's down to the user to ensure that only lossless is on the card being used if they are that fussy about it? Granted not possible if some albums are not available in preferred format.

Thanks for clearing it up. I'll give it another thought, whether I should use my iBasso IT01s with it or not.
