What would be an adequate setup for the HFI-780? I want to spend less than 200$. Ive been looking at the EF2 USB AMP. It apparently as a DAC built into it, would this be sufficent?

A usb type setup would be easier so i can change from laptop to PC easily.

Look at something like a D2 Boa or even a Nuforce Icon Mobile. Either one would be sufficient enough for the 780's. My setup is a little overkill for my 780's but meh, down the track im sure i will end up with either a pair of Ed.9's or 8's.

My take would be to pickup a desktop amp/DAC either like the EF2 or a solid state like the Zero, I've found portable amps to do well with IEMs but only so-so with full size headphones. IMO if you're going to get a portable amp you may as well pickup a Fiio for $20.

EMU 0404 USB might be a worthy contender at $160...

Yep, the EMUs are great, as well the NI Kontrol 1. For more money you can get the Apogee mini dac.
