Settings for music - Xfi-sound card

Most people suggest switching it to audio-recording mode, setting the sample rate at 44.1khz, and disable the crystallizer + Eq. If you have a external DAC, enable bit-matched playback as well.

I am using foobar and asio but thats what i never rly understood ppl say to go into audio creation mode and change the sampling to 48 khz and turn on bit matched play back but i dont have an external dac, but i never rly hear a difference

Also I just want to add that everytime i switch to audio creation mode i get this high pitched screech noise which goes away if i mute and then unmute my sound never happen to me before until i plugged in these new headphones

audio creation mode, bitmatched playback for me. I have issues with asio, it occasionally creates loud white noise after pause/play ing in foobar2000. and disable all that EQ / CMSS3d / crystallizer crap ASAP.

but game mode for games definitely.

Just use game mode for everything. I haven't heard any difference whatsoever using Audio Creation and bitperfect so game mode is my choice. Don't have to change modes practically ever.

EAX probably aleviates your situation with sound positioning...but cmss 3d is pretty cool for gaming.

Who remembers playing their first game on their x-fi....i had a bigass smile on my face when i was playing quake 4 and i could hear things all around me

O ya now aint that great I remember playing Americas army and I would just stand there looking around hearing footsteps and little details that I haven't before, but there are differences between the modes and I think I will stick with Entertainment mode until I get a different card/ amp for my music listening needs.

PS The best mode for gaming is gaming with everything off besides maybe a couple of things on, but turning up unnecessary things will cause you to lose performance in game.

I found that for music: Audio Creation Mode, 44.1 kHz, Bit-Matched Playback, Wave (Master Volume) @ 100% - seems to work best for me. Disable any EAX effects as well of course.

If you select bit matched playback it disables CMSS3D, EAX and Crystalizer anyway.

I use audio creation mode 44.1khz, bit matched playback and Creative asio driver in both foobar and MediaMonkey. I use an external DAC though. I've set up foobar for headphone use only and I use these DSPs
Channel Mixer>Dolby Headphone>Advanced Limiter.

Do you set your sample rate in Asio at 44.1khz as well?

The only problem I have with audio creation is that I can't use my mic it makes this really loud white noise and I am afraid that it will 1) Kill my ear drums 2) Kill my headphones

PS What is wrong with using crystallizer, equalizer, cmss, etc? I don't use them, but I am curious also do you set your set your speaker/headphone setting on headphones or 2.1 speakers?
