Everythig turned out well.

The player is around 6 months old and the play/pause/power button was tweaked. I wasn't "abusing" the player but I had attatched velcro to the outside of the case (which is just a clear plastic sleeve that covers the entire player) the day before and it went over the buttons. This made it hard to tell when a button had been fully depressed or not since you couldn't feel the click through the velcro. I must have ended up having a heavy finger because less than 24 hours later the button was not working.

Anyways I followed the instructions given on their website and was able to get the unit repaired for free with a good turnaround time. I think it was eight days from the day I sent it off.

The only thing is the RMA request form was a little awkward from what I am used to in forms, and I didn't really recieve many updates through the process. Such as product recieved, problem diagnosed, product shipping back, etc. All I recieved was a email from Quantum ?something? giving me a tracking number for a one pound package leaving from somewhere in California. I found out by process of elimination that this was for the MP3 player but it could have easily discarded as junkmail since I had never heard of the company.

I also had to have a copy of the original reciept (which is fine but Iriver didn't require this from me)

I also don't know if they fixed my actual unit or transfered all of my files to the new unit but all of my stuff was on the unit returned to me.

So overall they got the job done efficiently without much effort on my part. Communication was near nonexistant after the player left my house but in the end it doesn't really matter.

Just posting this up for any body wondering for RMA or returns or warranty on a cowon or Iaudio product since I looked for peoples experiences and couldn't find any.

Truth is that Cowon suck on the warranty front. They do a lot to make it hard for you, hoping not to have to honour the warranty.

The "service" you got was better than my experience believe it or not. Clealry these guys dont think they need to work on anything.

Nice hardare but its unreliable and their support sucks. I would not buy another cowon player. They charge Rolls Royce prices and they give Yugo service. There is nothing worse than an also-ran company that doesn't even try to give good service.

Your better off getting an Ipod and putting rockbox on it. Scary thing is that it is CHEAPER than a Cowon.

I've not owned one, but I read a *ton* of stuff about what people thought of them (before deciding to wait for a 4gb flash version). I've never heard anyone talk like this about them. Based on what I've read about what others have experienced, your report is very unusual. However, I fully believe you are telling the truth about your own experience.

Kind of side stepping the subject here, but russdog mentioned waiting around for a player with 4G's of Flash. I'm in the same boat as my criteria for a player was small, AA or AAA with good battery life and 4g's of space along with half way decent sound. From what I read, the next gen cowon G3 size player won't be using 4GB flash memory and I have no idea what's on the cards with their future models, so that kind of leaves Iriver's T players which I assume will at some point get to 4G's. Does anyone have any insight into the next gen of Flash players that'll have 4GB's, use AA or AAA size batteries, and are as small as cowons G3 player?
