It can't be called HD700. HD = Headphone Dynamic, it will probably be another HE (Headphone Electrostatic).

HE -> Headphone Electrostatic

Well, in the big HD700 thread, several people says that Sennheiser representatives has confirmed a new HD can in the making. So the question is.. are they making a new price no object statement can such as the HE90 AND a new dynamic can, or is one of them a rumor? Either way I can't wait.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe both have been confirmed by sennheiser.

How do we know this rep wasn't handing out disinformation in order to steer people off?

I immediately connected him to a lie-detector since I don't want no people crapping about such a thing

We really don't know.
Until Sennheiser speak officially about their upcoming headphones, we can only speculate what they intend to release. Aka -> Rumors

If they could make an electrostat that surpasses the Orpheus, I would be impressed. Still, it sounds pretty cool. It's always good to see another halo headphone from a major company.

How would these reps know what is going on in development anyway? Their job is to answer phones and talk to customers.

*crosses fingers for a mid priced system*

I really hope that it is fairly affordable like the HE60 was. I'll get the new ones in a heartbeat if they are.

The headphone that I'm aware of is not an e-stat, it's a dynamic.

Color me skeptical. How many years has it been since sennheiser did something new?

Well, the 5x5 series had angled drivers. The PXC350 is the smallest noise canceler I've seen. They did a lot of unusual ergonomic things with their cheap lines that I haven't seen before. The folding band on the PX series is pretty unique and effective. The 201 is amazing for its price.

I dunno, I think they're doing pretty consistantly interesting and creative work.

If it is a dynamic, I truly hope it has the traditional Sennheiser smoothness.

This rep goes to stores wich sell sennheiser and talks to staff about what's coming new, prices, offers and that sort of stuff.
They are not to deal with costumers and don't answer the sennheiser-hotline.

Would any company release an Electrostatic Headphone with out releasing a complimentary amplifier?

Stax and Senn both had amplifiers mated with the headphones.
