Sennheiser unipolar 2000 mod thread

Went for 59 euros BIN. Typical BIN seven months ago was almost twice that. Some guy was trying to sell a pair for 200 euros a month back but he may've abused a substance for sure.

The Unipolar were sold in Australia back in the day, I'm sure one day a pair comes up locally there.

It's curious you should mention Golden Ears, since their measurements of the K 701 embody what I though sounded wrong about those phones. In other news, Golden Ears subjectively rate the vintage HD 540 above the K 701 in resolution and transparency, and I find it no wonder having heard the very similar HD 530.

I have owned the HD540 for many years and I can emphatically state that it is clearly superior to the K701 in every respect. I too consider the K701 a flawed design, with a grainy and rather unpleasant treble and no Bass body to speak of.

It's the stuff of which Myths are made...

Right now, there's two Unipolars for sale at an online EU marketplace at €85 and at €75. Both are said to be fully functioning and both come with the HER2000. If anyone's interested send me a PM. Act fast though.

Just wondering, what is up with Vid having a single "." in most of the early posts in this thread?

The SR-5 is indeed bit flimsy feeling but it is quite strong as all are Stax products. The SRD-6 is rubbish, throw it out.

I haven't heard of a SRD-7 only SRD-7sb and SRD-7sb mk2 which I prefer greatly over the other energizers. Coupled this through my Marantz PM-32 amp my SR-5 sings. Very nice mids and as you said voice imaging. Sound improves if you install O2 pads on them.

O2 Pads? I am interested. What are they?

Thanks.

Hello folks ! I bought recently this headphones Sennheiser Unipolar 2000 + HER 2000 and got some troubles with HER 2000 unit. The loudspeakers/headphones selector doesnt seem to stay pressed. It is buton 7 from manual. I connected HER 2000 to the amp and I can hear sound into the cans but only if I am keeping my finger pressed on that button... it doesnt stays pressed and if I release it then no sound at all... Do i miss something ?
