I just have to brag, I'm sorry

Just got my HD600s this morning, yeeha! These phones are far less ugly in RL than on those pictures, the build quality is nice, but I still cannot think of a reason why they ever introduced this marbled design... brrr.

I like them

although the bass is quite a bit strong. Fierce! Currently they are fed burn-in signals via the Cosmic, but I am just about to put them on again. The fit out of the box is great, I must have an ideal model-head

Best thing: I paid EUR188 *new*

I also picked up PX200s last week, and I have some issues with them:

- The straight plug is a joke! These are supposed to be portable, but as the plug is straight it very often gets janked around in the TAHs jack while walking with the HR iPod bag, causing channel dropouts

- The isolation advertised on the packing is not worth mentioning. It sais "ideal for the subway", and I wonder whether the Sennheiser folks in Hamburg actually ever got out of their building in Hammerbrook and onto the train across the street for a test. They should have. I am of course spoiled by the Etys, but I can hear people nearby talking over the noise of the train and over the music. Do not get these thinking "closed=isolation", it just does not work very well for supraaural phones, I guess. At least there is not much sound leakage, I cranked them up and got no looks.

OTOH, they do sound good for the price, just a slight tad hollow/echoy, and I would choose them over the KOSS PortaPros without hesitation, especially for the bass. The treble still feels a little too bright and harsh, but maybe they just need more time to burn-in.

Ahh finally, a fellow ety-px200 person, ipod person. You wouldn't happen to have a Palm Tungsten PDA would you? If so, would you mind terribly trying to fit it into the Headroom bag and seeing if it fits in the section for the amp?

Yeah, maybe the 200s offer some isolation, clearly they seal more than my old B&O a8s, but that's not exactly saying much. They seem to seal in well against my ears and prevent much of the sound from leaking out and annoying others.

I found that they got less harsh, the more I used em, but I'm spoiled after the ety isolation too. I use the px200s in situations where etys aren't such a good idea (when I need to hear, when it's too cold, when sources are worse than the ipod). They're my backup phone, but with it being as cold as it has been, they'll be my main portable phone for a few months more.

I have two Newton Message Pads 2100, and I am afraid they do not fit into the iPod Bag

As for the PX200s, I also got them because of the cold. Germany has been a deep-freezer for the past few weeks which kept me from inserting moist things (Etys) in my ears. I am also afraid of damage as their cable gets *very* stiff when it is cold.

The straight jack-plug on the PX200s is a virtual god-send for people with Sony PCDP / MD stick remotes...

One of the best reasons for buying the PX200s... for their jack

I for my part never bothered about angular plugs on my MD remote... well, different needs. I will see if I have an angular miniplug adaptor somewhere, maybe that helps.
