Hey guys,

I bought a used pair of Sennheiser 600's from ebay. They are not broken, however, the right earphone has a tendency to crap out on me on occasion. It's strange, it'll work fine one day, not work for four days, and then miraculously start working again.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the headphones themselves, I think the wires need to be reaffixed or something. I've concluded that it's not the wires or the amp, it's definitely the headphones.

Any advice on where I could get them looked at for free or cheap? It's not under warranty. Again, I don't think any serious invasive surgury needs done, I'm just too afraid to hack them open myself.

Thanks!

There was a problem common to Senn HD580/600 where the contacts inside the headphone (at the socket where the cable plugs-in) could become loose and thus intermittant.

There was also several threads regarding this situation and possible corrections, I'd suggest you do some Forum searches for further information.

This could just be a connection problem.

There are several things you can easily try yourself.

1) unplug and rep;lug a couple of times and make sure the plug fully clicks home. If it now works then theplug had not been fully pushed home.

2) unplug the cable and swap over to the other channel - if the problem stays with the caa problem in the headphones - if the problem stays with the cable end, there is a problem with the cable and it's easy to replace.

This way, you can sort most yourself without sending away.

I hope this helps.

Well if they crap out I would say that they are broken and the the previous owner knew about the problem.

I know quite a bit about the HE60 and will give you some suggestions....

Given your description of the problem, it is most likely a failure in the headphone side of the connector at the HEV70. While they are playing, flex the connector gently at the strain relief and see if it cuts out.

Also try to flex the cable gently at the strain relief at the ear cups but I doubt the problem is here if it only happens every 4 days.

It is probably the connector at them amp but could also be an amp issue.

A VERY skilled tech can open the connector and repair the pins that snap and cause the intermittent contact or a new cable is about $190 from Sennheiser and can also be replaced by a VERY skilled tech that is familiar with headphones.

Sennheiser stock almost every part for these in Germany.

Good luck!

Check with Sennheiser,

I bought a pair of 580s used, and it had the intermittent connection problems in the R connector. It was a few years back, but I seem to recall that Sennheiser repaired it for free, I was just out the shipping costs.
