i got a pair of senn's px 200 supra-aural's from newegg.com for $38 shipped. i'd have to say they're pretty sweet for the low price. the reason i got them was that i wanted small portables that could really block unwanted noise, for travel purposes, and these little guys get a big thumbs up in that area. (my dad says he's been knocking on my door for the past 2 minutes while i'm writing this review listening to BT - Orbitus Teranium, and i just now heard him

)

a lot of people complain that they don't get a seal over their ears, and consequently no bass (closed-design, pretty small earpieces). they fit me fine, so i guess i'm lucky. additionally, the headband provides just enough lateral force to get the cups to seal on my ears, but not so much that it's uncomfortable. they don't have tons of bass, and perhaps are just a little lacking, but they do produce a nice and balanced sound. as i understand it, closed-design phones in general rarely match the bass production of open designs, but that's the price you pay for sound isolation. compared to my mx500 buds, these have a more mellow sound. (the mx500's are a bit bright sometimes to me)

the driver housing is all plastic, and so is the joint that connects the earpiece to the headband. i wasn't too thrilled about that, but hopefully they'll hold up. the headband, however, is made of metal, also with metal joints where the phones fold up. overall they're great portables that fold up nicely into the included travel case. i'd recommend them for 38 bucks, but i don't know about the retail $60 price tag.

they will: my PX200 followed me on the road for more than a year and now are the personal phones of my 4-yrs old son (they are full-size cans for him, no seal problem

). They still look sharp and fold perfectly. Well-built cans!

Hiya mnol07,

my problem with the PX200 isn't a lack of bass, its a lack of treble... I don't know if it is a fit issue, or if i've just been really unlucky.

Regardless - welcome to Head-Fi, sorry about your wallet

there's indeed a treble roll-off. it's not getting much better when you adjust your sweetspot (it takes me at least ~2min each time to find it...

). a clear and well resolved midrange and tight, but never boomy basses are the strenths of the px200. let's forget about the higher treble.. i think, you have to compromise with small phones.
