Anyone else notice the price of the Senns going up online?
I blame the new HD800's : all the press the new model has given Senn, (and then the 600s look like a bargain in comparison, right?)....demand goes up, availability goes down, prices bump up.

Not cool, man. Not cool. It's been a while since I've seen a consumer electronic product go up instead of down over time.

Also remember that the USD have weakened noticeable against the EURO the last 4-5 months.
Which impact the street price in the US for Sennheiser's (German made).

Has it? I thought that the exchange rate had improved a little. Either way I thought that it had been hovering around $1.3/1.4 per euro for more than a year now.

Either way, I don't see the same increase in prices. I think that some retailers simply sell closer to MSRP hoping to sell uninformed consumers who say "wow, that is $200 below msrp. That must be a good price" rather than knowing to look for one at $300 below msrp.

The USD tanked in December in comparison to the Euro but is currently near its peak when looking at the last twelve months.

Good call on the Jr.com find. I was about ready to give because I couldn't find anything under $350. (Nextag and pricegrabber don't catch JRs price because it's one of those deals where they email you their real price.)

I was going to buy them off Amazon UK 3 weeks ago when they were £170 but was waiting for my work leaving present, I asked for a pair

but got £100 of gift vouchers for Amazon and now the price is £235. Upp £65 in 3 weeks - not cool.

Do a search for the sennheiser under Live Search

Hit the cashback link and do another search for Sennheiser HD650. You will see jr.com on the left column. 7% cash back which is technically $22.34 off the $319.19 price.

not just the euro, the dollar got obliterated against the Yen in 08 as well. What cost $1000 in 06-07 now costs $1400. Crazy.

I think this is god's way of telling me I don't need them.
