Sennheiser Orpheus HE 90 vs. HE 1 - Impressions of a direct comparison

I honestly cannot believe myself that I would say something so absurd. I am guessing that was around 4am and I was on my 7th Martini lol. Just disregard that please. What the heck was I thinking. Obviously not coherently.

@HugoFreire thanks for a great and wonderful impression. I do have the Aristaeus and HE-90 as you do. If you really want to squeeze even more performance from your HE-90, I highly recommend you to get your hand on a DIY T2. Out of the DIY T2 amplifier, the Orpheus has even more resolution with better bass, depth, details, as well as being more resolving. The sound is more balanced from top to bottom and it can even rock out nearly as hard as a well amped SR009. I also have the KGSSHV Carbon and the original HEV90 amp and no other amp can drive the original Orpheus as well as the DIY T2. The Aristaeus does come in a distance second however.

I finally got my DIY T2 from Kerry and I can now confirm this is absolutely true. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. Thanks, @purk, for enlightening me!
@Guss2 Gary, I know you were considering this amp for your HE90s. If you have a chance, I'd say go for it. You won't regret it, this thing is the real deal.

Quick update.

Got a XF2 quad, a pair of the early O2s MkI and then the SR-009s.

I found the O2s too thick/dark sounding and lacking the resolution/airness of the HE90s. Their sub-bass was amazing, but that was about it. I was expecting a lot more, so it was kind of disappointing. Maybe I was unlucky and should try another pair in the future.

I sold the O2s and got the SR-009s. Technically speaking, they're amazing. Fast, clean, resolving and transparent.
However, I can't wear them for more than 30 minutes without feeling fatigued and reaching for the HE90s. As revealing as they are, they just don't sound as real or natural to me. I always get more involved when wearing the Senns. Not to mention that the HE90s are much more comfortable and lightweight.

In fact, I'm still to hear anything better than the T2/HE90. What a wonderful combo!
