How do those compare? My Senn buds broke recently. I'm not sure if I want to keep my Koss Plugs. I remember how my MX500s were - they let a LOT of noise in, and while being nice and clear and surpassing the quality of anything near its price, were useless for bass below 600 Hz without EQing. Would the Sonies provide any isolation? They say they would provide *some* isolation on the box, but I have to remember they're also $10 Sonies. The Kosses sound like ass(perhaps I haven't gotten used to them yet/broke them in) but they provide isolation which I like for removing bus engine noise which usually overpowers the music. Would these buds share any of the sony streetstyle wraparound sound signature(aka garbage)?

Keep in mind I don't want any suggestions for other headphones, but I'm requesting a comparison between these two. I expect them to suck because they're to be my cheap portable 'phones which will get abused endlessly(which is why they have to be cheap). I never appreciated the fidelity of my buds until I tried their competetion in the price range, most being utter ****.

Those sony buds aren't very good. They're I believe one step up from the E838s, which are the stock buds Sony puts with a lot of their MD units. Both are pretty crap, and the MX500s blow their pants off.

The only sony bud that's actually decent is the E888; and they're a bit expensive (and fragile) to be abusing. XD

I've got a barely used pair of MX500s that I'd be willing to part with. =P

i agree. i don't think you'll find anything better per dollar than the senn mx series.

on a sidenote, i found the cresyn e700's to have similar sound quality to the 888's, better build quality (thicker wires, made of metal), and lower price (~$45, while 888's are ~$60 in korea).

I've read many threads around here asserting the MX400s are the MX500s without the volume switch.

Yet then I read this.

Is dgs's review a result of heavy placeabo(what I'm thinking), or are they different headphones? newegg's decision not to stock the mx500s makes this even more irritating.

I have the Sony buds in question, and they suck the big one. Don't bother with them.

The E828 are the OEMs that came with upper end Sony MD units, they are not the crap (the E808 and the E805) that comes with the lower end crap units. They are not THAT bad, and with proper burn in, they sound OK. They are a lot more comfortable than the Senns too.
