anyway.....i want some cheap ear buds

i remember somehting about the 400 actually haveing better bass than the 500??

please refresh my memory

i checked the spes and the MX400 are 18-20000 and the 500 are 18-22000.

but it wad newegg spes so it might be inacuret

wouldn't putting the volume control in the signal path of the mx500s hurt the sound?

I had panasonics with the volume cord, and after a year or so the volume knob caused static while it was being turned up or down, and the right ear had a lower volume than the left.

I've heard that there is a slight difference in the port-design of the MX500s from the 400s. Supposedly the 500s generate better bass. I haven't done a direct comparison though, so it is hard to say.

The MX 500's volume control (on mine at least) is surprisingly good. The matching is dead on with no distortion during changes. My only objection is that the attenuation curve is a little too sharp. I definitely wouldn't want to use it as my only control, but it does come in handy for fine tuning and muting.
