Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review

Ok, but DT700 are huge, thus their portability is under question. Do you actually walk out in DT770? And what about mids, I think I've read here people complaining on recessed mids of DT770. If so them I prefer Momentum...

I don't find them THAT big to be fair, It's certainly not as big as the Mad dog or some other headphones. I think they look quite good the colour is nice and it goes well with the velour pads. I wear mine out, I wore my Mad dog out a few times and I looked like a right dork so they came off lol DT770 doesn't have recessed mids at all. This website really throws the words recessed Mids around a lot. The dt770 are not ruler flat by any means they have a slight boost in bass but overall it's quite a balanced headphone. I really love my DT770! I prefer them to most of my headphones.

Bass, what bass? There is no bass extension at all. I tested them and they don't go below 80Hz. They will respond to 50 or 30Hz signal, but if you measure the output it will probably be ~80Hz. Great heaphones for people liking boomy bass. I can imagine the on-ear version probably can't go below 100Hz.

I wouldn't go throwing out these negative statements without evidence (real measurements).
The various measurements available online are contrary to your statement.
My ears also disagree.

The bass on the momentum does go pretty low.  Sealed headphones usually do have low extending bass.  The problem with the Momentum bass for me is it's just a little too boomy and mushy.  A little long in the decay from the closed back and too high THD in the low bass.

Comparing the COP to the Sennheiser Monentum and the Soundmagic HP 100, which would you advise me if I mainly go unamped and portable, listening mostly to indie folk, but likes bassy dubstep sometimes?

Thanks, all! :)

EDIT: Or the DT 770 32 ohm, I can get that for 200 euros.

I consider the M50 earpads size ideal over ear - it's neither too big "over whole head" nor too small "squeeze your ears in" - just perfect size

Maybe engineers at Sennheiser all have small ears...

They hire squirrels with a refined sense of sound.

Graphs show you frequency response as power output (pressure level). What they don't show you is frequency output. Maybe some later time I'll try to do some measurements, but I simply draw conclusion for that when I boost 30Hz I hear that boost on HD215, I hear it on A30, but I don't hear it on Momentum, so you see where am I coming from.

I just used an app "Frequency Generator by Jose Morias" on my android phone and I was easily able to hear a sweep from 10 to 30 Hz with my Momentum cans. I have enough music with very low tones that work just fine with momentums. Maybe you got a bum pair.

I'm pretty sure that's not accurate.
Frequency response graphs are exactly that - the recorded volume at every frequency.

Something's wrong if you can easily hear 10hz.  I wager that's not 10hz that you're hearing.

Yes, Momentum just get into resonance at 80Hz, so everything below 80Hz results in 80Hz and this is why you hear it. The HD215 on the other hand can do infrasounds easily - all you need is boost at low freqs. Momentum will not respond to such boost with infrasounds. Even RH-A30 doesn't. Have you seen my two-way setup yet?

Yep, infrasounds are so enjoyable:D

I can definitely hear it, it was not harmonics and there is nothing wrong. Some people can and others cannot. I gave the name of the program such that others can try this and see what they are capable of, they should be careful of not using high volumes at frequencies that can be damaging.
I tried this on Sony MDR-1R cans which they claimed can to go down to 4 Hz and they produced dismal results at the low end and went back to J&R for a refund. I replaced them with Momentums which passed the test with flying colors. I was easily able to tell the difference between the two when listening to music, When I returned the Sony's I A/B'd them with the Momentums.
EDIT: Set the sweep to a slow rate as the display lags. Also use individual frequencies by unchecking the sweep checkbox. Set your volume to a lower value when trying things and inch your way up as you learn so not to blast your ears.

4hz? really?

Don't question him, he said he really heard it-- not even harmonics.

Not even elephants can hear 4 hz, I can even wave my hand at 4 hz.
