Hi guys, I would like to buy IE800, no warranty, but in very good condition, serial number 40 000 plus, just a question. Is it possible to use over ear wire, how is comfortable during walking. Thanks in advance.
The cable from the earpieces to the y-split is rather short. So it depeds a lot on your own body's pysical build. I am more on the slim side, for me it works properly.

Yes they are specially if you don't have a big head and not that tall. You should be fine wearing then over the ears.

Well, like someone said before, taking to the extreme length of the average post and the heavy posting traffic, i ask for recommendation on portable amplifier/DAC and better in-ear foams/silicone. Thanks on advance and excuse for my english, not my original language.

Looks like a more linear sounding iem the 500 pro is. The ie800 series has this dipped lower treble.

The IE 500 Pro has a slightly greater dip than the 800s. Around 2dB lower at 4khz, around 6-7 dB less at 5.5 Khz peak. I haven't tried the ie800s, but the 5.5 peak may sound harsher in the 800s. The IE 500 pro is more polite in the lower treble, yet retrieves all the details. The slightly greater dip around 4k might even give the 500 pros a larger soundstage. Again, I haven't heard the ie800s. Love the delivery of the 500s.

IE800s doesn't sound harsh, unlike the original IE800. It sounds very refined but could be a little bit bright, depending of how sensisble you are around 6hz.
I am and I was using the EQ for 1-2 db less.

So with the number scheme, are the 800 series still the flagship models?

I really shouldn't go to Canjams and should avoid Japan and most of all avoid head-fi :D

Last year I tried the IE800 at the Senn stand in Singapore and was blown away. Alas, I was blown away by its price, too so it was filed under "wonderful, but no way I'd pay that money for an IEM"

After that I returned to my faithful ety HF5 until I couldn't resist an offer on Amazon.jp and got the Klipsch x12i. Wow, I love it, both the sound and the isolation - I didn't think anything might be on par or better than the ety. (I need top isolation, I fly way over 200k miles a year) So far so good. Early this year I went to Tokyo and couldn't resist upgrading the HF5 to ER-3SE - good old ety sound, but even more refined. Great! I thought that's that, I'm set. Until last week - again in Tokyo, e-earphones had one ie800 "used" (as in open box, totally pristine unused) at 36k ¥ - and I remembered the previous year's Canjam and after some thing and froing I bagged it. I'm listening to it right now and love it.

(As you can see, I like small sized IEMs, anything with more than 1 driver is just too big)

Actually I really, really like all three of them, so I THINK they'll end up being used like this

x12i with Comply foams - flights, trains
ety ER3s with tri-flange - commute, gardening, etc when I might need to remove and reinsert repeatedly, but still need good isolation
ie800 with stock tips - at home, in hotels, etc (the isolation is just nowhere near the others, so I prefer to use these in more silent environments)

During the same period I also took delivery of a HD6xx and a ATH msr-7b

Thanks a lot in advance.

None. Straight out from the Pioneer XDB-30R. I see no reason for amping, at 30-35/60 it has more than enough voume. I haven't tried with the Sony A30 either direct or with the Fiio Q1 mk2.

Actually I use the Fiio only to drive the HD6xx via the balanced output.

Hi,

I am currently listening directly from my Xiaomi samrtphone and I am looking for a good head amp for my Senn IE800.
Many thanks for the reply. :smile_phones::smile_phones:
