Let’s have some fun checking out the thought behind these playlist picks! You may notice that many of these tracks have a “Space” theme going on here, as a nod to the subtle silver and gold speckles on the IE 300.

The IE 300 has the low end grunt to make you ready to tap your toes, while at 0:22 the song has some nice cymbal hits to show a treble response that is clear yet smooth and not fatiguing. | “Stars” is a magical track worthy of adding to all headphone test playlists... there is high potential for shivers up your spine here, with massive soundstage holding an aloof electric piano and richly textured cello work, as well as moments so realistic you might need to check out the window to make sure there isn’t something going on outside! |

| “Moon Light On Spring River” from Zhao Cong again showcases a wonderful depth with a mandolin played delicately up on stage, solo and accompanied by a full orchestra, as well as a HUGE bass drum pounding away that will wash over you pleasantly. |
| Ok, so diamonds aren’t exactly stars, but “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” by Paul Simon is another amazing test staple, featuring tenor lead and rich baritone chorus vocals at the beginning, and just a pleasant, hyper well produced track. |

I absolutely fell in love with "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" all over again. Those Paul Simon backing vocals, they'll get ya every time! Great picks @Evshrug !
After spending countless hours with the 300, I added some tracks that I hope you get to put through the paces with your own IE 300.
"Redford" may be one of the few songs that makes me feel physically different after listening to it. Behind the [creaking] legato piano part are these drifting, droning textures. On most speakers, they sound like synthesizer pads, but the IE 300 reveals their true organic origin and that is a set of delicately stacked vocals, complete with dorsal and coronal articulations.
"Latch" is a delightfully busy track that I have always used when ringing out speakers of all kinds in the studio and in the field. It's no different with headphones—this track can really stretch the capabilities of a transducer and is hungry for a speedy headphone to communicate a lot of information at the same time.
"To the Beat", a deep cut from a cult-favorite album by Rhazel. The IE 300's bass presence gives the beatbox kick a gratifying heft while the vocal instruments shine in the stereo spectrum—each instrument is purposely placed in a precise location in the mix. It's not until you put this track under the microscope of the IE 300 that you realize that there are no instruments in this recording besides the human voice.
"Overture..." is highly regarded as Michael Kamen's best work (please skip Roadhouse and do not collect $200) for its jaw-dropping dynamic range and intricately layered orchestration throughout. Starting at the 0:55 mark, the transient flick of ensemble members exerting their instruments is revealed with ease, evolving to a fanfare that sounds full-bodied at any volume level.
"U Don't Have To Call" features a pillowy percussion and the Neptunes' hallmark assortment of accoutrements. Mixed by Duro, the track offers a plethora of "front-to-back" layers that are missed on larger speakers. The IE 300 offers a punchy center aisle and dreamy background for the [relatively] minimalist instrument count to wander.
"Lady", an iconic R&B track glued together by effortlessly-warm vocal harmonies and subtle wah guitar work. These are the foundation of the track, and when picked apart by the IE 300, you realize how pointed and objective they are to the feel of the song. Where the musicianship exhibits great restraint (in a good way) the IE 300 pulls back the curtain as if you were watching Raphael Saadiq get to work. Tidal's MASTER version is especially complementary to the background vocals.
"Lacrimosa" is one of my default tracks for grading nuance and the IE 300 does not disappoint. The soprano's rolled "R's" at 00:40 simply do not exist on other platforms, yet are clear as day here. The male chamber's tonality is easy to experience on speakers, but it isn't until you feed the IE 300 this recording that you can practically count the number of ensemble members in the right channel.
"Be" juxtaposes acoustic and synthetic, live and programmed—listen to the bass riff with the IE 300 and the growl of the instrument's neck adds body and authenticity to the foundation of the song. The hard panning highlights the use of contrast as instruments enter and exit the mix to bring dramatic flair to the arrangement.
"Song for Amadeus" is a playful performance by Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea, with thoughtful panning movements and theremin-like tones in a lush studio reverb. Vocals and midrange energy are an obvious strength for the IE 300, and Bobby's childlike exploration of the scale appropriately tributes his other-worldly talent.
"Tennessee Whiskey" demonstrates what texture is all about. This bluesy arrangement has the right amount of rasp and crunch to make you believe you're in the smokey, sweaty studio just reacting to the vibe in the room. Of note, Chris Stapleton's vocal features an expertly executed slapback reverb that is both a nod to the blues greats of the past without being a heavy-handed emulation. The IE 300 lets me find the moments where the effect is most reactive (1:55 - 2:00), accentuating the imperfection that makes the blues perfect in a stereo spread that is subtly layered behind the drums.

Sometimes we search for a theme, and sometimes it’s fun to just let shuffle help explore and unearth new musical discoveries. The latter is what I did for the IE 900, but I will make sure to add “DJ Notes” for what parts stood out for each song and why I think the IE 900 is a great match for each!

HD 560S Synergy Mixtape
As a fairly linear and “reference” sounding headphone, with the added quirk of deeper sub bass extension than you’ll typically find in open backed headphones, the HD 560S is very fulfilling in how honest it sounds, at a killer price point.As always, the Spotify playlist is open and collaborative, so feel free to add your own songs that synergies well with the HD 560S for some more variety!

Sennheiser HD 820 Synergy Mixtape
Offering a bit of isolation from background noise so you can concentrate, one of the most expansive soundstage you can find on a closed-back headphone, and a bit more low-end power than Sennheiser’s open-backed headphones, the HD 820 is an excellent work-from-home headphone when you want independence and high performance.TIDAL:
