52 views now. Assume it's not yours. Kind of expensive for this combo, at least relative to what some of them have sold for recently (more like $800 IIRC).

I wasn't too familiar with the pricing of them, but the HE60s were the electrostats that really took my breath away (not an Omega II fan).

I hear the HE70 is only so so as an amplifier, but I figured the price was still pretty decent as many dynamic headphone setups go in that range.

Fred, I agree on all points, except that I am an Omega II fan (but is has to be amped right)!!! The HE60's are ever so close to the performance of the HE90's, which makes them a real bargain at the prices some people have picked them up for recently. I've never heard the HE-60's with the HEV-70, but by all accounts, the HEV-70 seems to be the weak link in the chain.

Wmcmanus - Just curious what are the preferred amps for the HE60 and the OmegaII? Thanks & regards.

The Omega II's sound great out of the Stax amps (SRM-007t for tube or SRM-717 for solid state) but most people who have tried them with either a KGSS or Blue Hawaii amp prefer these DIY-based alternatives to the Stax amps. Not everyone, mind you, but most people. There are a couple of guys on head-fi who can build these types of amps for you and depending on the dagree of customization you're after, they could run anywhere from $1,100 for a basic KGSS to well over $3k for a full blown Blue Hawaii. I'm not sure who is making them these days, but other members might be able to guide you. My Omega II amp is the Egmont Signature formally owned by Nik (a fellow head-fi member), and with some tube rolling, it really opened up the Omega II's to a level that I didn't experience with the 007t. See http://www.rudistor.com/ for info about the Egmont. The amp options for the HE-60's are similar to those of the Omega II's. The Blue Hawaii amp that I heard them on is owned by the head-fi member known as bozebuttons.

Wmcmanus - thanks for your prompt and thorough reponse.

to minimize the discussion and stay on topic... it appears the seller of the baby orpheus has set a higher than average asking price.
