the history of the cables that are supplied with the headphones is therefore still surprising. Do you think there could have been a slightly modified version after the first returns and that it was at this time that the XLR cable was no longer sold with?

I think I read somewhere that somebody declared that most people won't use the balanced cable. Some genius decided it would be better to pack a certificate for a free cable so those who want it can get it, while those who don't will save the company money. I have a hard time believing people who shell out 2.000 Euros for a pair of headphones are fine with a carboard box and an SE cable. Somebody at Sennheiser needs to wake up and smell the coffee

Hi,

any recommendation for a portable Player that drives the hd 820 without an external amp?

The 820 isn't hard to drive. Most should work.

Last week i ordered the xlr cable from Sennheiser. There was a gift Card inside, so noting to pay for it. i don´t need it, but i think it is not bad at all and i can change the xlr connector to a balanced 2.5mm one.

Sennheiser packaging seems to be taking a death-spiral and it was never good to begin with.

33xx, that's mildly concerning actually. I wonder if it's possible I picked up a fake?
I'm doubtful that your pair is a fake. Faking a HD820 would be quite difficult and probably not cost effect. One of the simple ways you can check if you have a fake is to check for the holographic sticker located near the driver if you pull off your earpads. Sennheiser has this tiny sticker in the HD800 & HD800S. I believe it should be the same for the HD820

Yeah, there's a tiny one on one side.

Guess I shouldn't sweat it, but it definitely strikes me as odd that a serial in between two provided with wooden boxes would have different packaging.

Yeah, I would think that the concave glass would be hard to replicate on a fake. Maybe if it was made of plastic instead :p

I’m looking for an HD820 storage box. Does anyone have one they want to sell?
