My intention was just to get the Sennheiser 2 for outside use but I decided to try a few others that greatly increased the budget and now I am when I am :smile_phones:. So now Ive gone from a deciding on a cheaper set of in ears to possibly a more expensive set of open but maybe a set of 820s.

I gave them 250 hours playing but i prefer hd 820,and Now i'm selling the stellia

That's ok, each to their own :). Would appreciate to know more why you prefer the HD820.

Yes of course!!IMHO and for my ears i start to say that i feel more realism with hd820.
I mean..the stellia are a pretty pair of headphones, but i don't love beryllium sound signature;the fact that it makes the sound muffled and that dampens any kind of hissing sound does not convince me..a perfect example?try to listen with your stellia "sleeping sun-nightwish" this song born with a bad recording, with EACH headphones you feel sibilants in this track, while for stellia or utopia no.
Ok,is amazing, the sound become always enjoiable, but is no real as it should be!!(sorry for my english).
Stellia and 820 are very detailed headphones, stellia maybe a little bit more, but to my ears against 820 loose clarity in the details, can you understand me?each micro detail are here but they're poor, too much detail in a very small soundstage.
Now for the low frequencies.
Stellia clearly have more bass, concrete and tangible,(if you drive both with a DAP,in my case drove with sony WM1A) but always less real.
I would like to explain better with a funny comparison.
On Stellia,Low frequencies are beautiful as a beautiful artificial breasts, but remember, they are always artificial.
On Hd820,low frequencies are beautiful as a covered breasts, you need to find the correct synergy to uncovered them and you'll find the stairway to heaven, the nirvana.
Images, soundstage and instrumental separaration simply much better in the 820.
These are my personal thoughts.
Obviusly,in this earth exyst better headphones, but for this versus for me hd 820 is the clear winner.
They need a long time burn in,a balanced connection (i used 4.4 for wm1a) and for me a custom cable;before,i heard my 820 with a chord mojo and i wasn't satisfied, after, with the wm1a another story;a good real sound signature and surgical like the 800 series, but a little emphasized to give more enjoy during your listening session.

I like this quote so true. But I suspect you mean breath and not breasts?

Ha, yes I appreciated the comparison :). I liked your explanation of the differences - was great. At the end, in this case, it really comes down to personal taste, nothing can go really wrong with either Stellia or hd820. For me, ultimately, it is that the focal is easier to drive which is what I am looking for with a closed headphone. But your review made me miss a hd820 for certain moments

Also depends on how the "breasts" grip your ears/head. I found they were a bit too loose. I had to push them on my head. The solution is to buy a set of semi open breasts, like the Klipsch HP-3..

Just had the change to listen to a few tracks on the 800S. To my ears, I preferred the 820s. The only probable being, I only had a mojo at hand, so i’m Thinking the 800S was somewhat under powered.

i used the HD800S with a mojo. I thought Ir sounded ok-ish. Then I got a tube amp with lots of power, and there is no comparison. It jumps 3 leagues ...

I used the mojo and the Hugo two when I tested the 820s. The Hugo is powered them better but they still sounded good with the mojo.

you still scratch only the surface of its potential. It’s not criticism, it’s pointing out that there is even more fun ahead :)
