Is there any headphone which is as comfortable as HD800S? One of the best things about it is that you can put them on for a long time and you won’t even feel anything. The pads, the headband, the negligible clamping force, everything is so comfortable. Weighs nearly 330gms. Something good in this weight range is rare to find.
The AKG K812 is just as comfortable. It has some of the characteristics as the HD800s with a more bass, musical sound and can be worn all day.

Keep an open mind, because these are a very underrated headphone. Although they are easy to drive, with proper amplification they can be a real treat to listen too.

Ether 2, 290 g, planar. But you would probably need to bend the twin nitinol strands to lessen the clamp force, especially if the head is on the big side.
ADX5000, 270 g, dynamic. Pads may be a little prickly because of the stitching however; this feeling can be reduced by polishing the stitch by the nail.
And my HD 800 S are measured around 370 g even if I hold the wire... So not so lightweight, at least not all units.

I've not heard a headphone as versatile and scalable as the flagship senn. If you've got good amplification, this is it😎

At the beginning of this year, I gave myself a chance with solid state amps. I bought Questyle CMA 12, Violectric v280, Schiit Mojlnir 2 and Auralic Taurus Mk2. My dac is Yggdrasil. Whilst these amps perform very well with HD800, I much prefer using tube amps with HD800. For now I'm referring to both HD800 and HD800S when I say HD800. Eventually I sold all the solid state amps.

These are the tube amps that transform HD800 - for me.

Glenn OTL amp - 6 x 6BX7gt
ALO Audio Studio Six - 6SN7 and 6V6
Oblivion - 6AV6 and EL81
Destiny - 300b
Odyssey - KT88 / EL34

Load distribution dose a big role for comfortness.
I found no hot spot on HD800S.
Metal mesh helps thermal exchanging the stock pad is good at asorbing sweat. Good feeling wearing on.

I have an Xduoo TA-20 with Amperex Bugle Boy tubes. It makes the 800s sound great. BUT so does my Denafrips Artemis head amp. which is pure Class A. I previously had a Violectric V281 and I agree it did not make the 800s shine so much.

The other day I did a comparison of how HD800s sounded differently with a tube amp (Feliks Audio Esspressivo) and HeadAmp GSX Mini which is a class-A audio circuit. Listened to both of them for hours. To be honest, I could not decide which sounded better. It seemed they both sounded equally great.

Anyone have the little silver pin that holds the ear pad to the headband pop out? I tried to put it back in but it never stays put now. Constantly pops back out and then the ear pad basically falls off of the headband.

Halp.

Guys - think this site is legit? I want to jump at this price ($1150). They're listed on Google shopping and on eBay but it looks questionable.

Doesn't say new, open box, mint, in excellent shape, in very good shape, in good shape, in "I'm eating curry and taking your wallet" condition...good luck...I sold a 'phone like that with real pictures and person behind it for less money with upgraded cable...
