Anyone tried the 800S with a Manley Absolute?

Sorry for quoting an old message: did you end up listening to the HD800s with the Manley, I have the same amp and I’m tempted to get a pair HD800s

Yes I bought a pair and use them balanced. Most excellent in general and the amp slightly warms what could be a more sterile sound with some amps.

Thanks! Out of curiosity do you prefer it in push pull or single triode mode with the Sennheiser?

Push pull with the Sennheiser as they can accentuate the hiss with single triode. I’ve a pair of Stellias on the jack output where I do prefer triode. But this is just me…..

Ah, interesting, I would have expected the other way around triode mode being preferable with high impedance headphones. For example I don’t like single triode with low impedance Meze Empyrean

I have here two pairs of HD800s - one with S/N 34335 (new) and second with S/N 1425 (very old). There is a sound difference. Old one are more spacious, have better transients and looser bass in comparsion with the new one. Is it possible? Is it just piece to piece difference, burn-in or was there some silent revision? Pads seems to be good on both.
Is there any best S/N to get?
