Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)

For those who like the HD800S, I recommend checking out the LCD-i4. To my ears, the two have a similar sense of accuracy and detail, but the i4 out-resolves the HD800S a bit, and also has more bass oomph. They're similar in important ways, but also different in ways that enable them to complement each other.

I can’t think of anything that can out resolve Hd800s, dynamic stuff, from what I heard. Unless the amplifier wasn’t up to task. But that is just me

If we're only talking about dynamic drivers and giving full benefit of the doubt on the amp side, the Utopia, the Ultrasone Edition 15, the Mysphere 3.1 and 3.2 and the Sony Z1R are all technically more resolving than the HD800S. Of these I only consider the Mysphere 3.2 to be an unquestionably better headphone, although the others have their merits.

Cool headphone and booked marked but at 3,300 euro that’s getting close to susvara pricing...

Reading more about my sphere 3.2, hope Canada and Eu/Austria get free trade up and running soon.

I just got my pair of HD800S and checked the "personal frequency response".
It seems like others are way more flat at the 4k to 6k frequency.
Is this something I should be worried about or that is "worse" than it should?

Nothing unusual.

Isn't that dip between 4k and 6k weird? Others seem to be flat there.
Also 6k seems to be higher than the usual HD800S?
But then again, I am not sure if one would notice it?

The magnitude of the variation looks small to me. You might even prefer it the way it is! :)
