Thanks above. I’m in the US.
@Luke Thomas call The Source Audio Video Design Group on the phone 1-310-534-9900 see if they can make you a deal, unless they are bound by an agreement with Sennheiser to sell at MSRP. You can often get a better deal when you call and ask. Or having a cheap pair of phones you aren't using as a trade-in could give them legal permission to discount. You don't know if you don't ask, like buying a car.
Thanks, I will call.
I just auditioned my friend's HD 800S, which I actually sold to him, and I was astonished at how pleasing it sounded.
Does anyone know if there are any differences between the older versions and the newer version other than the text on the headband and the 4.4mm balanced cable?
They’re the same. The 800S is simply a great headphone, period.
Audio 46 is advertising a 2G version.
SENNHEISER HD 800S (2G) DYNAMIC OPEN-BACK STEREO HEADPHONES WITH IFI MICRO - IDSD BLACK LABEL USB DAC HEADAMP
I would go by the Sennheiser website rather than Audio 46. I have seen no mention of running updates on the HD 800 S. IMO just marketing from Audio 46.
I guess HD800 was 1G?
"For sale is one brand new pair of Sennheiser HD800 S headphones from latest batches. This is the newest version with upgraded headphone yoke design and 4.4mm balanced cable. Everything is 100% brand new in the original packaging and has never been used even for a second. Everything you'll receive is exactly as shown in the pictures. Both original 6.35 mm single ended and 4.4 mm balanced cables are included. Thanks for watching. Please let me know if you have any question."
Is this true?
Yes that’s true. The newer 800S borrowed the yoke design from the 820. BUT in terms of sound, they’re identical.
Awesome! I just made a purchase for a brand new, open-box HD 800S for $1,200. This will be a great complimentary headphone to my Abyss Diana V2.
I think I have every genre of music covered for now.
You have every genre of music covered with just the 800S...and maybe a tiny bit of EQ.
How does the iFi Micro iDSD Black Label drive the HD 800S?
VERY WELL! That is the amp that I usually use with my 800S. And the 800S is far easier to drive than the Diana V2.
